crow decoys

i agree on that vic,,,they both sound like good idea's ,sounds like the trash bags will flutter in the wind and keep them fooled a little longer and i like the sock tip too,,,i wonder if a guy could put a crow decoy in a tree right next to an owl decoy to make it look like the owl has the dead crow at the owls feet? anyone have this work for them or is it bad to put a crow decoy in a tree at the owls feet?
Thank you

You bet it does! I have had crows circling over it without even using a crow call. I had it set up over my coyote deke about 350yds from where they fly through in the morning. I guess one spotted it from where he was because he flew over and perched in a tree. I blew the rabbit distress to try and get him in shotgun range, and then he started cawwing and pretty soon There were about 15 crows circling overhead.

In case your wondering, I use a feather duster for a coyote deke. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif... No joke.

Any old socks stretched over a clothes hanger and a little black spray paint. Then straiten out the hook and push into the ground/snow. Cheap/light/easy to carry and store.

Shameless

I like that idea. Smart thinking!

Coroplast (old election/real estate signs) cardboard, pasteboard, foamboard, plywood, or any like material. Cut it out, spray it flat black. You can glue a clothespin on it or use wire to hang or stake them. Lots of decoys for little money. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Get some at Lohman they have new ones that inflate automatically and are about $3 Really cool decoys. I got some and work really nice. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Shameless, I like that idea even better than mine. They would take up almost no space in my daypack. I think I'm going to make a few to see how they work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

The crows dont get suspicious when there looking down from above and they see the crows are only a 1/4" thick. Or do you cut some out to make them look like there flying.

And thanks again for everybodies input its really appreciated.

By the time the crows are over the decoys they are within shotgun range. I've been thinking of making a few with wings made from black trash bags though. I think the wings moving it the breeze will really get the crows riled. It isn't necessary though.

You can make your own silhouettes or just buy you one owl decoy They have them at a lot of gardening places. Wrap a trash bag around where his "claws" would be. Then play crow distress calls or crow and owl fight. The calls are key.

You can even shape the hanger so the silhouette looks better. And you can use duct or any other tape rather than socks. The thickness don't matter.
