Crow hunting help

So my buddy got a foxpro for Christmas and we put the crow fight to the test these last few weeks. Problem is we're not killing many crows. Unless I'm just flat out missing, its tough to kill them with 1 1/8 oz #7.5s Ive been shooting my mossberg 535 with a mod choke . I folded one up at about 15 yards the other day but anything outside of 20 or so yards is plum near impossible to kill. When I first started hunting crows all i would use are express long range #6 and I was able to kill them with those. Would you recomend using a tighter choke? (I have Imp cyl. Mod. Full. X full. And a primos jelly head.) Or would you recomend just shooting better more expensive shells? And how much of a lead should I put on the bird? Any input will be helpful.

I have really good results with 1 1/4 #6 shot with red dot. If that don't work put the caller under a snag and get back about 100 yards and snipe em with a varmint rifle. I also use (Buster) its a decoy I found on www.crowbusters.com and don't forget to read the hate mail while your there.

Willybo, if you can't kill a crow at 40yrds with 7.5s then it's your shooting!
these crows were all shot with 7.5s + mod choke with a foxpro using crow fight!

I have a short barrel on a Browning shotgun and it does not pattern that well at longer distances. After some investigating, I found the inter diameter was larger on my full choke than other's modified choke. I bought a set of 3 extended chokes from MidwayUSA and 2 of the 3 are tighter than anything I had. I can reach out there a good ways with the Modified choke now. I haven't tried the full yet. I don't remember how tight they are but one of them is .710 diameter.

Killahog, me and my friends brother did that the other day with his .17 hmr. Its pretty fun, nut rheres juat somethin about shootin em outta mid air.
Outwest1- nice job! I've killed em that far, just not often. Do you have any technique for decoy set up? A guy told me to tie a black cloth to the end of a stick and flag them like geese. Has anyone ever tried that?
I think I'm going to get an improved modified choke and see how that does

Willybo, i can assure you if you try flaggin you're not going going to kill many. that caller you have will get all the attention you need. some times i'll go to the foxpro "crow dying" sound + that drives em crazy. i think the biggest problem most people have is they're not hidden good enough.
+ put your caller out in your decoys so they focus on the caller + not you. hope that helps

Yea wasn't sure of that was a good idea or not. I built a big blind out of cedar trees and beach tree branches. I wear full camo including a face mask. And my gun is camo. They just seem to never commit 100% .. they may just be too educated to the call. How much do you lead them? Its been way to windy these past few days to hunt but I'm gonna try to get after them again this weekend.

Late to the party here, but I use a briley duck choke (light modified) on my Benelli SBE and it holds a pattern really well. Not sure how to tell you about leading the bird; depends on distance and speed of target. I have agree with Outwest1; if you're not hitting crows past 20 yards (even with 7 1/2, you might want to hit the range. FoxPro sound "struggling crow" is always a good one for me. I never use decoys; but will lay out dead crows.
