So my uncle was chatting with a few guys he knows that hunt coyotes and these gents told him not to put the crows he kills on his bait pile. Reason being that coyotes know that crows are smart, so if they see dead ones around they'll know that something is up and won't come in.
I wouldn't have put much stock in it except that last year we did a lot of crow hunting around the area of the bait pile and put a bunch on it as well as left some where they fell. Only saw 3 coyotes there last year and only got 1 of them. The previous year we got 11 of them off the same pile.
This lead me to thinking maybe there is something to that theory. This year, we're not shooting any crows over there and already have 2 coyotes.
So, is there anything to this theory? Do dead crows make the coyotes nervous?
