Cunfusion.

Just use the load data for the 223 you'll be good to go.
the diff. that most people refer to are in factory & reloading data for 5.56 loads compared to 223

The cases are the same. There can be a difference in how they are factory loaded, just the same as any other 223 from one manufacture to the other.

As for the cases, they're identical.

If you go to the link. You will need to scroll down a ways, you will find a chart that gives the weight of several .223 and 5.56 cases. you will see that they are all nearly the same in weight and capacity.

That's all I use for mine, just remember that most military brass that has not been reloaded have crimped primers & will have to have the primer pockets worked.
no big deal just an added step the 1st time you reload them.

Full length resize the first time you use it. It may have been shot in a rifle with a looser chamber or a machinegun. After that, the only concern is the primer pocket. Need to remove the crimp. Some guys just use a countersink that woodworkers use, others use the tool sold by most suppliers made for that purpose.

I have been loading 5.56 brass for about 5 years now as I came into a bunch.Prior to that I used only Winchester.I do not own a 5.56 chambered gun (that I am aware of)all mine are supposed to be .223's. I have loaded this same brass for multiple AR's and for quite a few different Bolt actions and one New England single shot( my Dad's). Not sure how many pieces this would be but I have completely used up two(2) 5 gallon buckets of it and now am working two of those Postal Service plastic containers they put mail in that are about 2/3 full each. Those particular containers don't have 100% 5.56 but a large percentage is. I am loading it for 3Gun ammo at the current time and not too worried if my brass varies a little in capacity. When I load for serious stuff like predator shooting I tend to segregate a batch but it maybe all 5.56 usually Lake City.

The only issue I have ever had was with .223 brass a few years ago when I was able to buy 16 lbs of H335 for 60.00 so I started loading with it exclusively and some of my loads were at maximum and when it got Hot (like 105F outside) I blew a couple of primers learned my lesson and backed off to a more reasonable charge.

I only worry about making sure that the primer pocket crimps are removed and load them for 223. I have also used them in the 20pr and the 6x45. The 223 are shot out of a bolt or ar, the 20pr and 6x45 are shot out of ar's.
