Custom revolver grips..........

Anybody here ever make their own? I stated to years ago, and never finished them. I have a boat load of exotic hardwoods and am thinking of making a second attempt. My first ones were maple, and I'd rather something else.

While we are at it, how about some pics of nice grips?

Forgot. Anyone know where to obtain the threaded inserts and the little Ruger logos? I haven't begun to search yet.

Thanks......

I'm interested too, let's see some pics!

The inside of my factory faux ivory grip on my Ruger Single Six chipped away (assume I tightened er down a little too snug) and the escutcheon is pulling thru the grip. Looked on line at some custom ones but made the mistake of letting the wife look over the shoulder at the price. Not gonna happen soon.

So here I am thinkin of ordering some escutcheons, breaking out the band saw and belt sander and seeing what happens. If they turn out nice great, if they turn out so so who the heck cares. Still something you make and there's a little more pride in that then breakin out the wallet.

I have the same grips on my 32 H&R mag. I've thought of changing them, but the white looks good with the case color hardened frame, and real ivory is pricey.

If you decide to do it, give me a shout. I may be able to hook you up with some nice wood......

This is a 6 inch Colt Diamondback .22, a seriously sweet shooting pistol that spent major time as a holstered woods gun. It's shot a lot of squirrels, rabbits, and armadillos.

The stock Python type grips allow the muzzle to drop as I shoot, these grips naturally hold the pistol at the perfect angle, they make a world of difference.

My brother and I used to do a lot of metal silhouette shooting at 100 yards with this and a Model 41 .22, both were good for 10/10 on chickens.

We shot informally at a range that had 100yds that we set heavy steel chickens up at. People seemed to get a kick out of hearing us go back and forth with consistent ting, ting, tings with the .22's. We would shoot a couple of hundred rounds for a buck a hit

Both my model 41 and this Colt are about as sweet as a .22 gets. I've had Victors, Citations, target Rugers, Ace, K-22.

Brownells and Ruger, in that order. Don't forget the aluminum spacers to prevent over-tightening the screws and pulling the inserts right through the wood! They're 1/4" X 1/2", available from Home Depot and Lowe's - sometimes, anyway.

Please elaborate?

2MG, thanks for the offer for wood. I have some 1/2" x 4" cherry around and will try that first. Like you though I really like the faux-ivory grips so I'm thinkin I'd like to try to find some antler for a final set. Not planning on leaving much if any bark on it though. Any ideas for a source?

bought my 22 peacemaker with custom stags installed. Don't know the maker.....

I know it's not a revolver, but I built a set of Corian grips to replace some beat walnuts on one of my Woodsmans....
