CVA Scout TD

I bought this a few days ago and really wasn't sure why....until I shot it yesterday. What a neat little fun rifle. Its in 350 Legend. I've had a few rifles with the straight wall case, 45-70, 444 and the recoil just basically took the "fun" out of it. The 350L still packs a punch and doesn't kill on both ends. I've really been wanting to try the 350L but not being an AR guy, it didn't leave a lot of options other than maybe a Ruger or Winchester bolt gun. The Scout TD is short at 35" tip to tail, has a really decent trigger and a stainless fluted barrel and threaded for suppressor or brake. As to accuracy, Winchester 180 grain was all I could get but it shoots them into pretty consistent 1 inch groups at 100 yards. Plenty good for where and what I planned on using the rifle for. As for optics, I put a 1.5-6x32 Center Point scope on it. Ya, I know...cheap but it works for now. Thoughts for a better optic is in the works but the CP will have to work for now unless it dies before I get around to something better. If there was really a "Con", the break open lever and actual opening of the rifle is pretty stiff and a little hard to open at times but I hope with use it gets better. All in all, it didn't break the bank, shoots pretty good and the fun factor was worth the cost. It was for sure an "Impulse" buy but no regrets so far.

I bought the blued non takedown one in 450 Bushmaster and it loosened up after awhile. Was disappointed with stiffness and difficulty removing empty brass but that got better. Four shots four deer, it does kick though. I had to put Burris Z rings with the different sized inserts because the scope mounting base was offset enough to max out the adjustment of my Burris 2-7. I bought it before the 350 came out and we already had a 450 AR upper so it made sense to go with that caliber. I might try the 350 sometime, Ammo should be cheaper and takedown sounds cool.

Mine loosened up and is fine now. Loading a live round is a little tough getting past the extractor but doable. Its a fun gun to shoot and recoil is pleasant.
