CZ 221 fireball back in production?

I thought I heard awhile back they were going to start back up with the 527 221 fireball in 2015. Anybody know anything about it?

A friend of mine bought a Stevens in .223 Remington and then replaced the barrel with a .221 FB. Over a charge of Lil' Gun this cutie will shoot either 40 or 50 grain polymer tipped bullets into a 3/8" group at 100 yards. Five shots. I liked it so much that I bought me a .221 FB barrel from Midway and using a new Savage action I built my own. I just recently got it threaded for my suppressor and will soon be working up some loads for it. Fingers crossed.

I am fortunate enough to have a 527 American in Furball and it shoots amazing. I just wanted a full size .221 to go along with the CZ and so far, so good.

As neatokeen as those little CZ rifles are in .17 Rem and .221 I don't understand why they quit making them. But I cannot help but believe that if they were besieged with emails from folks wanting one that they would soon be making them again. We can only hope so anyway.

I agree Rusty...

Question, are the savages single shot or do they feed from a mag reliably?

I am not sure what my friend Billy has, but I have a single shot follower in mine. I like to just drop a cartridge in the action and close the bolt. I really don't need a magazine for most of my shooting but I do use them on occasion. Just me I guess.

They had it posted on their site earlier this year that they were making both the 17 Rem and 221 in 2015, so they must have at least pondered the thought.

Now I have a 7-08 on the brain after CZ screwed me.

If CZ will make that nifty 527 Varmint in .221 Furball I WILL BUY ONE. I shoot off a bench and the varmint version is much easier to hold and see your hits with. It is just that neat a gun guys. It really is. And taking prairie dogs at 400+ yards distant with my .17 Remington version was a snap. When I let hunting partner and Good Friend Billy try it on some pasture poodles that were a quarter mile out he was soon giggling like a school girl. BANG!........pop! Hee hee hee hee!..BANG..........pop! Hee hee hee hee! When I finally got my gun back from him I was worried that he may burst into tears. Then he paid me a huge compliment when he said "You just cannot miss with that thing!" And he was right. What a gun. What a fun gun! I want me another in .17 Rem and an exact mate in .221 FB. 24" for the .221 and 26" for the .17 Remmy

Listen guys- I am serious here. I don't give a rat's heinie for the most part what bolt gun that I got as long as it shoots but Boy Howdy those darling little 527 Cz's shoot up a storm. Purty purty wood, set trigger and an action like it's on ball bearings. I do not care for people that say "Oh, I got one of those and you should buy one too!" Nope. Don't work for me. But in four decades of owning handling and shooting bolt action varmint rifles (and some that were not so varmint) In my humble opinion .....and I don't get too humble.....those CZ 527's are just the neatest little rifles made. I have three (had four but blew one up one time and I needed a few band-aids for myself too over that one) But now I want more. And in the morning I am going to start calling them every day and emailing them every day asking for........nope.....demanding that those rifles be made again at least in limited numbers. We want them and are willing to pay for them. Keep us CZ fans forever and make some for us, please? PLEASE??

How many are actually willing to do it along with me? Get a few of us and they will just have to it just to shut us the [beeep] up. What say everyone? You want to? It has worked for decades. For lots of manufactures. We want one of these and we want one of these and hey YOU! Make it for us- NOW! Sound good?

I sent them an email to their website 3 days ago, and I have not gotten a reply yet.

I just sent them this letter:

"Hello

I would like to know when if ever you folks are going to once again start making the wonderful 527 in .17 Remington and/or .221 Fireball. I have a .221 in American and would love a varmint model of it. And would love to see the varmint come back in .17 Remington too. I know that I speak for many that you would have plenty of people like me standing in line at our local gun shops should you start making them.

Since you offered the 527 in the past in both calibers I don't imagine that it would be that difficult to start making them again. Maybe? Please?

I would settle for a limited run of them. Just let me know when they are coming out and where to get one or both. And hope that the wait will not be long! I am ready to buy right now!"

So if any of you want to copy it and use it or a variation of it yourselves feel free to. I just want another CZ527 in my gun safe (will make room somehow) and I want it bad.

Their email address is: info@cz-usa.com

Let us know if you get a reply. I asked a similar question, and also pointed out that the link to FAQ on their site is not working.

Will do. Like I said I am going to send them at least one letter a week. Hey- just think if a few hundred of us did so. Maybe even several dozen would make a difference. Remember- "If you build it, they will come."

Well, I just heard back from them. It was short, and depressing.

This is the e-mail I sent:

Quote:I am inquiring too see if/when you will be producing the 527 in .221 fireball again. I had heard 2015, but cannot find anything definite.

On a side note, the link to FAQ on your website is not working. http://cz-usa.com/faq/

This is the response I just got:

Quote:Nothing soon…

That was the entirety of the response.

If they don't make any sure makes mine go up in price, problem is I wont be selling mine anytime soon. Its one of the last ones I'll ever sell. Had a chance on a 17 didn't know they were going to stop making them so I passed on it, sure wish I wouldn't have, now I have wait and pray they make a run of them again some day. If I was a betting man I would bet that they will make them again some day seeing that it looks like the 17 Hornet is leveling out. One day we will wake up and there they will be, just like there will be no more 452s and they just keep showing up. I just hope its sooner than later.

And this was what I got back:

Nothing soon, it is simple so many ideas and projects so little time…

Sounds like they don't have much interest in giving us what we want. Fooey. Not even a glimmer of hope.

Hmmmm......I have always wanted a Cooper.......

Summer of last year, DoubleUp and I both found the 527 in. 17 Rem. We purchased from the same vendor at the same time. What a great rifle / cartridge it is. It has quickly become one of my top favorites, and has produced accuracy of 3 shots into .240" and shoots often in the. 3's. On top of that, I have only experienced such drop-dead performance in one other cartridge, that being one on the heavier side, a 7mmSTW.

It somewhat bothers me to see CZ have what appears to be such an uncaring attitude when replying to your letters. Maybe I interpreted it wrong.
