CZ 527 question

I just ordered myself a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar in 223 today.

What rings do I need to fit a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40?

I'm seeing lots of reviews on needing higher than normal rings on these rifles.

Thanks

The supplied rings will work.

I also have Leupold mediums for mine. Both will work. You can see in these pics. 40mm Leupold, 44mm Swift, 40mm Weaver. All with AO. All work with supplied rings and Leupold mediums. I have the T-36 on it right now with Leupy mediums.....

2much, do they ship with rings? On the website it says "no rings supplied".

I ordered a set of CZ rings # 19002. Which I believe are Medium in matte finish.

How does your CZ shoot? If its a 223 what bullets ya having the best luck with? Might be able to do some loading before it shows up.

Thanks

I thought they came with rings. Ring options for CZs pretty much sucks royally.

Mine shoots very well. So well, in fact, I will be running it in "factory class" shoots. 200yd egg shoots, and MAYBE even some 600yd F-class shoots.

When I got mine, the trigger needed some tweaking, and the action was a bit rough. Bolt travel was kinda rough. I smoothed things out and the bolt now runs smoothly and the trigger breaks like glass in set mode.

I also Ultra Bore Coated the barrel.

I believe I left the factory bedding intact.

Mine will run 75gr Hornady BTHPM well, but I have settled on 69gr SMKs for target/match shooting. It groups them very tight. The first time I ran them, Tim Nietzke and Superseal 110 were at the range with me. IIRC, I put 10-11 shots into about 1/2" or so. Since then, the same load does 1/2" and better, consistently....

The 527 American comes with rings, the varmint models do not. The size of the ocular bell is the limiting factor, the bolt handle can hit the bell on some scopes.

I used Burris mediums and the bolt and bell clear with 40mm objective, and I have a fatter barrel than the original varmint barrel.

Yeah, I was doing some looking around and I was positive that the CZs were "ring specific." I just hope that the CZ rings clear the bell on the Buckmaster or I might have to put a different scope on it.....

I have to stumble my way down into my basement and see what I have for bullets. I am pretty sure I have 500 of the following (50gr TNT, 50gr Vmax, 50gr BT, 55gr Vmax, 60gr Vmax). I also have some 40gr BTs, and a few other misc bullets to play with.

I really wanted a 12 twist, so I figured I could shoot the barrel out of this one and re-barrel it with a 12 twist down the road.

My 527 American came with rings I believe. The bolt wouldn't clear my scope however and I had to go with slightly higher ones. Mine is chambered in 22 Hornet and is a tackdriver.

If you need some high leupold rings, ive got some i need to get rid of, i had them on a nikon monarch 44mm lens, workded fine but as the others had stated the main concern is if your bolt will clear the back end of the scope.

I have a 527 varmint and the same scope 4.5-14 Nikon and had to go with CZ high rings to clear the bolt handle. Lots of guys grind the bolt handle down so it will clear with lower rings (The objective lens isn't the clearance problem, it's the ocular bell hitting the bolt handle).

My CZ 527 has stock rings (actual height unknown, on the rifle when I got it) with a Leupold 4.5-14x and the bolt handle barely clears the ocular bell, but I'm afraid that if I go with higher rings, I'll throw off the trajectory of the Varmint Hunter reticle..

I've considered modifying the bolt handle/knob, but not sure if that would improve or degrade the function of chambering a round, as the action functions smoothly as it is...

I currently have eight CZ 527s, in my experience your medium CZ rings should work with a Nikon 4.5-14, Leupold mediums will not because they are lower, they will work with a Leupold or Redfield scope, you may not be able to use flip-open scope caps.

Hopefully, the CZ medium rings will clear the Buckmaster scope. I really really really hate and won't put my scope any higher than needed. I guess if it comes to it I will throw a Leupold on it with the mediums.

I have a VXII 4-12x40 stainless/silver scope that I will trade at the gunshop if it comes to it......

All you CZ guys check out the milled bolt handle at James Calhoun. I had a 527 in .204 and a Pentax with the BIG ugly bell cleared with std rings. Wish I had bought it in a different caliber. Great rifle.

I'm pretty sure I used a Buckmaster with my CZ 527 and it worked fine. In fact I am pretty sure it was one of the only that did.

I looked him up today. I remember hearing about him a few years back on another forum when a guy ran into the bell clearance issues. If it and when it comes to it, I will probably send him my bolt handle and $44.

My gun should be here sometime towards the end of the week!
