Can anyone tell me what kind of accuracy I should expect out of a cz 550 American 243. I. Am looking at eather one of these or a icon

Haven't heard of too many cz's that don't shoot.

Just throwing it out there. the cz 550 is sort of heavy. Whatever weight is in a cz catalogue u can generally add another 8 oz.

I sold one a couple years back, and it shot easily under an inch with reloads. I actually let the buyer shoot it at the range before he bought it. Shooting my old coyote/deer load using Sierra 85gr HPBT's, his first 3 shots made a real nice cloverleaf at 100 yards, He decided to buy it right then.

I've been around a few different 550s, 7mm rem mag, 300win, and 243win. I've yet to see one that won't hold MOA @100yds with a competent trigger man. The 7mm mag was a bit picky about ammo, but the 300win and 243 ate pretty much anything you fed em' and spit it into an inch or better. As Tripleduece said, they are a bit on the heavy side but not overly so.

I have the same gun and took me a while to get the right load or loads for it. I found that the 85 to 87 grainers work best with the 10 twist. I could not get it to group the 95 grn bullets but get bug hole groups with the Sierra and Berger 85 and 87 grn respectively. I did end up bedding the recoil lug area and it helped it a lot.

They'll shoot about this good with 85gr Sierra HPBTs:

This CZ was bedded and had the older bulkier walnut stock. I agree with the above poster that they do not shoot anything heavier than 87 grain bullets very well. I could not get 100 gr bullets to group no matter what powder and load I tried.
