CZ Rifles

I was looking at a few CZ Americian's today and just have one question! Why does such a nice feeling, great shooting gun have a backwards saftey? I have never held one till today and could not believe how light they are. I have a CZ 452 Varmint in 17hmr and that has been my only experience with them. I wish they would have made the 527 Amer. in 17rem and not just in the varmint. I love my Tikke M595 17rem, but my next "backup" gun will be a 527! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The 527 is a great choice...yeah the saftey takes a second to get used to...but I also have a marlin 22 mag that has the same safety...

I'm over it now, it's my new favorite.

The original CZ action was designed as a training rifle and the safety was made to simulate cocking a hammer. Don't know how much trouble it would be to change but that is my only complaint with my CZ's

The CZs are simply superb.

I have a 550 FS in 9.3x62, and have shot a number of others, from .222 and .223 to '06s, and .22s. My next .22 will be the 452 FS. That said, I recently handled one of the little 7.62x39 CZs, and it was a slick rig.

If they ever put the .221 Fireball in the FS 527, I'd have one PDQ. I guess one of those might even get me to go with a .223.... naw.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Gotta say I agree with everyone about the CZ's. I've got two a 452 22lr. and a 527 Varmit in 204 Ruger and both are some of the best shooters I've ever owned.

Just need to spend some time with it. It is every what you get used to. I have shot right handed guns left handed for longer than I care to post and everything is usually backwards and comes natural.I bought one Rem 700 30/06 BDL in left hand what a disaster (didn't give it much of a chance)I soon sold it, snap shots don't work well when you have to concentrate on which side the safety is on. I shoot numberous different safety configured rifles and usually don't have any trouble .I have a 17Rem varminter and a 527 Lux in 22 KHornet have not been disapointed in any way with them they are quite a value. Seriously considering cutting 4" off varminter and recrowning. I too wish it had a sporter barrel, the lux is a pleasure to carry and shoot.
You have to consider the varminter in the faster calibers can heat up quickly (Pdog town) or rapid firing situations(thus the marketing HB I guess?).
Good hunting
