A .357 with 125 gr. - 140 gr. hollowpoints is perfect coyote medicine.  I have a smooth old 6" S&W M19 .357 that I am going to make an effort to take out some this season.  I've killed a few with handguns as targets of opportunity.  In fact, I missed one Sunday with a 4" Kimber .45 ACP Tactical Pro.  I busted it out of some brush as I was walking a tree line and it was on the other side of a row of cedars running at 30 yards when I took a shot... I missed, over the top I think.  Here is one I didn't miss a few years back during firearms deer season.  The handgun is a S&W M29 .44 Magnum 8 3/8" barrel.  I killed this one as it trotted past at 40 yards...
