Deer Calls?

There are so many different deer calls to choose from, which ones are the best? I know you use the grunt call for bucks but what about for does? Do you use a fawn bleat call to call in does? Will that get a bucks attention and bring him in too? I would appriciate any info you can give me, This will be my second year hunting deer. I shot a doe last year and have seen nothing but does so that's why I need something that will call in does and maybe a buck someday.

Some times they work and sometimes they don't. I've grunted at both bucks and does that I could see since season started a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to see what they would do. A couple acted like they couldn't even hear it, and they were only about 40 yards away. One 4 point looked around, and then went back about his business. After that, we would not even look my way. They does were about 45 yards out and acted like they couldn't hear it when there is no way that they couldn't. I guess if the mood is right they will respond, you just never know.

Ive used bleat calls both doe and fawn. They work.Just like predator calling you gotta stick with it.Ive called in a ton of does here with the fawn bleat and they come in stomping mad! When I call bobcats here in the Sierras ya gotta be careful of the does because they will come in to rabbit screams and wont leave, matter of fact last year I had a group of about 15 of them that were within 25 yards and could plainly see me but they would NOT move.Ive also flushed bucks with the fawn bleat also, makes em stand up and look sometimes.Man if we could only hunt the rut here!

Like LONE HOWL, I’ve called in lots of does. Most were incidental to calling for other things like bobcats and fox. I use a CritR-Call standard a lot, and does come readily to it. In areas where they hunt deer during the rut, I think this would be a real producer, as the bucks often follow the does in. Off hand, I can’t remember ever calling in a buck at any other time of the year.

Ill give you the tip that has worked for me for the last 3 years. I bought a hunter specialtes true talker, the one with the video and the call. This call will call mature bucks, subordinate bucks, adult does, yearling bucks and does, and fawns. I have called in probly 25 + deer with mine and only had a few that didnt respond. This call works by pressure on the reed, if you press in different spots you get differnt tones. This call will do the following grunts and bleats: mature buck bawl (very effective on big whitetails), tending buck grunts (supereffective during the rut), clicking grunts(havent had a hole lot of luck with htat particular sound but I have had other deer doing it back to me), subordinate buck bleats, subordinate buck grunts, mature buck grunts, doe grunts, yearling grunts, fawn bleat, fawn bawl, yearling bleat and grunt. I also figured out how to do a snort wheeze on mine that sometimes works. The call by itself costs 10 bucks, with the video its about 12 or 13. I would say its the best call out there for deer. If your after a buck mix that call with a primos battling buck rattle bag and some two drop supreme deer lure and youll see a buck if your quiet. Good luck with your deer calling.

I have an old Dennis Kirk grunt call, which has been faithfull, and I finally picked up a tip over bleet call which worked when scouting pre-rut. But this is a quiet call, if its windy it will not as usefull. I think by the end of the open season most of the wiser or spooked deer just don't bother to respond. I don't care how good the call or caller is. And that is two fold realy, as the animal has to be ready to respond in the first place.
