Default sounds vs custom 100 from Foxpro?

On the Shockwave, would it be best to just go with the default sounds or pick a custom 100 sounds? I see that there are some calls I would never use on there. I will be hunting Iowa primarily.

Is it worth the upcharge to select 100 custom sounds?

Now the question I'm sure wont be answered the same by anyone, but if I went with custom, for Iowa, what would be the BEST and cannot live without sounds?

Thanks

Always better to tailor your sound selection to your specific hunting interests and situation.

There is no cost difference between a call with the standard default 100 calls or one where you pick the 100 calls.

Pick your own and base them around sounds that you would use in Iowa. Go to Foxpro look at top picks and listen to sounds to help in your choices. When I purchased mine from All Predator Calls I got to pick my 100 sounds for the same price as getting the 100 foxpro put on there.

I just looked at the Shockwave sound list and it looks like it doesn't have some of the new coyote vocal sounds.

I think I would go through Foxpro or AllPredatorCalls.com and remove about 10 sounds from the list and add about 10 more sounds to make your own custom list.

Sounds I would want to put on the list are.

C40 Fem Coy Sore Howls
100 Coyote Growls
103 Troubled Coyote
184 Coy. Male Challenge 4
C21 Fem. Coy. Long Howls 3
L10 Devil Hare
235 Slow Jack
255 Fawn Bleats
R05 Adult Rat Distress
C39 Coyote Family

Remove the sounds that you want. For me I would remove the moose and raccoon sounds and some others.

Make sure you keep Vole Squeaks and Prairie Dog Distress, they work too good even though there are no Voles or Prairie Dogs around where I hunt.

One thing for some people to consider is that if you choose the standard sound list, you get the sequences already loaded. If you order the custom sound list, you do not get the sequences. I would rather have the custom sounds, and then make my own sequences with the File Generator.

Here's my take: I have a CS24C that I picked the 100 sounds for and I have a Fusion that I bought from FoxPro with the preloaded sounds.

Aside from adding a couple sounds I really wanted on the custom list, I prefer the Preloaded for a couple reasons. The preloaded sequences are nice, but I really don't use them much. The biggest thing I notice is that the preloaded sounds are organized better and have a better layout than the custom sounds on my remote. (maybe I could fix this if I took the time) That very well could just be the tech that put them on, but I much prefer the layout and look of my remote with the preloaded stuff vs. the custom. If I was to do it again, I would go preloaded then add a few of the extra sounds I really want. The preloaded sound list really has everything anyone would ever need and more. Personal preference really...

I like that sore howl sound. Never had anything come charging right in when I've used it but she really sounds sore.

Yep, if you take the time to program your remote you can setup your own sequences tailored to your liking. Its a little tedious & time consuming but well worth it in my opinion.

I did the custom sound list for my cs24c. I have some go to sounds but I don't like using a sequence preloaded. I like to change it up sometimes just based on how the spot looks or maybe the ecology. For instance, I was doing my normal go to sounds and I thought, man there are a lot of acorns on the ground around here, so I hit the squirrel distress. About 1 or 2 mins later a coyote shows himself, trying to be sneaky. Not a hard charger. I like to switch it up every other set or two just to make myself believe I'm not educating or not playing what they want to hear. No offense to you fellas that use sequences...just my $.02.

FoxPro has some free sounds so look at them before selecting your calls so you don't pay for the free ones. You will get about five extra that way. I did get the calls all mixed up and it took me along time to re sort them in the right categories.

I personally just went through this myself. I chose to custom program mine as I have no use for some of the sounds. I bought my foxpro through AllPredatorCalls and had them do the programming. Not making a public ad or endorsement but they made it super easy to get exactly what I want as opposed to paying more $ after the fact to buy the sounds I did want from foxpro. Plus they had my call programmed and shipped to my home in two days. Unreal. I made sure to go download the free sounds from foxpro and set it all up with the computer program. That wasn't hard to do. There's a little trick to organizing all the sound files by category in the order you prefer otherwise your remote will be all screwy once you update it.
