Alright so for Xmas i wanted a predator pursuit pack. As luck turned out so did everybody else. My wife could not find one so the stocking was empty. Late Christmas day I decided I would search the internet and come up with the idea that I could order a 402zf rifleman package and a Dereeelight for about the same price so I did. After a little research I figured I could order the Xsearcher which came with the body extension for less than I could get a night master and the extension so thats the way I went. I also ordered the red pill and figured I could order the nightmaster head and neck to put in at a later time if I like the product.

This afternoon I checked the mailbox and my Xsearcher had arrived. The package was shipped in two parts. My Red led and the 402ZF should arrive Friday.

The build quality of the Dereelight is outstanding. Very nice lense and OMG the thing shines like a LASER. Throws much farther than I can test around my home. I will have to take it to my cottage on the bay to see just how far it will throw. Just the reflection off the wall on the white lense ins blinding. Seems that the adjustment on the head has very little effect as it is like a laser anyway you adjust it. For sure it is two focused for a varmint light and would melt the retinas of any animal you shined it at. I was almost worried it was going to catch the grass on fire when I shined it at the ground. Reminded me of being a kid and using a magnifying glass to to start a fire. Great product just not suited for hunting as it is to tight a beam. Once the red pill arrives we will see how that works and I will report. I will definately be ordering the the nightmaster head to see if that opens it up a little. This weekend when the 402ZF shows up I will report on the comparison.

So bottom line......... If you want a long throw light this might be it! I have to wonder what it would do with the IR pill they offer. The night vision guys should try it out if you have a 100 acre field or a desert to aim it across.

More to come. Anybody else own both?

Here is short video comparison of the two lights. Very dissapointed in the play in the head of the 402ZF. Does anyone else have this issue? It is demonstrated in the clip below.

Did you make sure the o-ring for the head on your 402zf wasn't missing,it shouldn't be that sloppy.

You will like the NM800 head when you get it,because its more compact. The size of the 60+ mm lights is going backwards in my opinion. We finally got away from have big clunky lights mounted on our rifles, and now they are needlessly getting bigger again.

Also you might want to try running your Deerelights on one battery,it wont go into extreme mode with one cell but it's still bright. That may stop and brush fires from starting from the plasma cutter beam...lol

Missing O ring is the first thing I thought. Pulled it apart and the O ring was there. Looks to me like it should be designed with two O rings. That would snug up the head and take some play out.

Update on the Dereelight Nightmaster.... When I received the light it had the white pill installed. It was seated at maximum depth. When I installed the red pill I screwed it in all the way also. Both produced a laser like beam with little adjustment. Tonight I was swapping pills and realized I could set the depth on the pill. After trying a couple of different depths I found that if you seat it shallow it will produce a much wider beam. Pill depth is everything on this light. When you get it right you can find the balance between a nice open strong beam and a laser like focus just by turning the focus/bezel. The light is now much more versatile and useful in my opinion. The key is finding the sweat spot when installing the pill. Wonder if this is true on the nightmaster 800??

My 402zf doese the same thing at half zoom but it is fine with me with the holo it doesn't seem to make noise. But I was alittle disappointed when I first got it though. Great product I haven't found a better one. I would try the coyote lite but them boys are to proud of that light. Just my two sense.

Update:
I had not planned on mentioning vendors but I feel the need to recognize great service. After receiving the Wicked light with the play in it I contacted the seller (all predator calls). They promptly responded and sent me a new light that was much tighter. Great service! They even threw in a a couple of "goodies". I would highly recommend them. Prompt response and great service. Standing behind a product very important.
