Well I was told that the johnny stewart convert a caller was good. I got it and hooked it up to my sony walkman, the cd player beeps when changing tracks, it is some what cracky and not loud enough. I downloaded a few things from western rivers. What do I need or what works best for calling foxes. And are there any other sites other than western rivers? Please help me understand

So my cd player makes those beeps how do I fix that? What about should I use my mp3 player? I dont want to put sounds on it but if it is clearer and doesnt beep I might be forced to!

RR,

I'm not trying to be a smart aleck here, but why are you taking it out on the JS Convert-A-Caller? That is a good piece of equipment. I have one myself, and love it.

The caller is not causing your problem with the beeping sounds. It is obviously coming from your CD player. Not sure why, as I've never used mine that way, but there are others here that have. I have seen this discussed previously, and you might try the seach function and see what you come up with. My guess is that it has something to do with the CD player selecton process.

Personally, I use an Rio 800 MP3 player, and it works like a charm. So will most any MP3 player. The Rio's are a rugged little rascal, and can be bought on EBay at very cheap prices. I've seen Rio 600's sell for as little as $20.00. With an MP3 player there is nothing to move in the system, and no skipping. Something to consider. I'm confident that some of these other people using JS callers will chime in too. Good hunting - Bill

Okay, maybe I will have to start using my mp3 player. I just dont really want to take up alot of space. What about the cracking sound? What sounds do yall suggest

Oh yeah and sorry for coming off mean I was just disapointed!

RR,
Seems to me the MP3 player will take up less space then the CD player. However, I remember when the guys were talking about a CD player beeping and making noises that it was suggested to try a different CD player. That one worked, and just fine as I recall.

If, you already own an MP3 player, then go ahead and hook it up and see how it sounds. If, no beeping, and/or cracking sounds, then you have your problem solved.

As for sounds, I'm going to let someone with more expertise along those lines step in with some suggestions.

You didn't sound mean. Just ticked off. We all understand frustration. Your almost there buddy. Keep the faith.

Your CD player...if it is a Sony, the beeps can be turned off. I used to use a CD player and it too beeped. I was able to turn the beeps off however. If you do not have the instruction manual, there is a real good possability that the manual is on line. Try a search for it and you might get lucky.

The cracking sounds you hear, I would guess are from the connections from the CD to the JS Converta Call amp. Check your cables. I have this problem sometimes and it is the cable not making a good connection or something, but I know when I move the connectors around, I can get it to crack. You might try taping the connectors together so they do not move and that might solve the problem. I know that it worked for me.

There could also be a problem in the amp where the speaker plugs in. Make sure that the connection is clean. Run some steel wool around it and see if that helps. Or, you could again, just tape it in place.

I know these all sound like jury rigged fixes, and they are, but they work. I have had a converta caller for a few years and it just keeps on working and working and working.

Hope this helps you out some. I would also turn to the MP 3 player. Use Gold Wave to record your sounds and Music Match Juke Box to convert them. Music Match should have come with your Windows computer. Goldwave can be used on a trial basis for free and is a great program.

I have both with my lyra, just really dont want to clog it up. I plan on using an mp3 player. What sounds should I use? And how long should I run em?
