Hey! I have been goin out at night for the past five days straight and I haven't even seen a thing. Why? I have an electronic caller that I use. I have it at the volume suggested, I'm using the tapes like baby cottontail in distress and coyote pup in distress. I am also being as still as possible. I'm doing what everyone has suggested to me but I still don't get any results. I used to go at the same place a few year ago (in Texas) and did great but I'm just not getting squat now. Why is this? Any input would be greatly appriciated. Thanks alot!!!

hunter07,

By all means i'm no expert on calling coyotes, but i'll tell ya what i've learned through this message board... And if i'm wrong about anything on here i'm shure someone that know's more then me will correct me...

You may be calling critters in, you just may not be seeing them... Or it just may be beacuse of the time of year... This time of year is the slowest to call in yotes.. I dont know if it's because of the young they have to deal with or what but from what i've learned on this message board this is the slowest time to call in coyotes... Another reason is maybe the coyotes in ur area are hunted pretty hard? Maybe switch calls everyonce in awhile, like us a fawn distress then go into something else.. Try using different calling sequences... Anything that might be different, Keep trying and sooner or later one will come in... I HOPE WHAT I'VE TOLD YA HELPS ATLEAST A LITTLE BIT!!

I just wanted to add a few more questions so here they are. We have horses on our propetry pretty close to where I hunt, would that make predators a little reluctant to come in. Also, they have been drilling quite a few wells in our area but I know that there are still at least a few predators around cuz I can hear yotes howl at night every now and then. Would the wells have any affect on hunting. What do you think. I'll be going again tonight so anything will help. Thanks!!!

Are you hunting the same spots every night? If so
they may not be coming because they know it is
you calling and they will not respond to distress
sounds anymore. Also get a howler and learn how
to use it, I think that is the secret to coyote
hunting. Try some different areas and add a howler to your calls and you should see some
results. The drilling may be keeping them away
but the horses shouldn't. I hope this helps!

R Buker said it all.

If you want a valuable education you need to see how these guys do it. Its a royal pain trying to learn all of this by yourself. If your hunting at night and are worried about being still, I would think that you might not be putting your focus on manning the light rather than your movements.

Get the video, its a lifesaver.
