Difference between 30mm and 1" scope tubes

So, I am looking at a CZ 527 in .223 and notice that it comes with 30mm rings, but I see several scopes are 1". What is the advantage of one or the other and are there inserts to make up the difference, thought I saw that somewhere. Thanks.....

I remember the 7/8" scopes for .22s.

What a joke.

One inch became the standard for all rifles. That was better.

I recall the 7/8" scopes to be dark and very hard to get a picture quickly.

I can't argue with Leupold on the light ...... they build scopes, I don't.

But as to what I can shoulder and get a picture from faster .......... yes, give me the biggest one every time.

Three 44s

I much prefer the 30's as view seems more open. Inch scopes look tiny after using the 30's to me now. If you are use to a Inch scope you will not need the difference.

Another advantage of 30mm scopes is that they allow a larger range of adjustment, so they're superior for long range shooting. I have all 1 inch scopes, but if I buy a new scope, it will be 30mm.

For most hunting situations I like small, lower magnification, light weight scopes. For the range give me the Hubble telescope...

30MM tubes give extra elevation and windage as well as they seem to be brighter, at least to my eyes.

the 30mm scopes have top grade 1" lenses in them. Thus you end up with the same optics in a top grade 1" as you have in the 30mm. The differences then become one of having further adjustment range and the physical size of the scope.
