Difference Between Iodized and Non-Iodized Salt?

I used the opposite one you're supposed to use on my fur and was wondering just what I did or did not accomplish. Didn't even notice until I was done. The skin looks pretty clean but when dry, although flexible, it still has a grease smell so I haven't done something right.

Not sure so maybe someone else will pipe in , But I think the iodine henders the tanning process in some way when I was home tanning the instructions always specified "non" iodized salt. Don't know why just what they said to get a proper tan.

I worked in a salt mine back when and Iodine was added to regular salt to make "Iodized" salt as it went through a mixing area. It does discolour your hands and anything else you touch that is pourous(sp?) I don't know if that is why or not though.
