Go to DPreview and look up the camrea. There are many out there. The issue with te large zooms is they have not incerased the recieving chip at all. Basically the processor is not up to par with the zoom. For most people this will allow the average user to point and shoot and be happy. I however found my point and shoot camera to be lacking greatly in low light, action shoots, and wide angle. I saved up and bought a new Pentax DSLR with 2 lenses and fancy carring case, etc. for under $800. I also carry a pocket style Nikon with 4x optical and 10 MP for my stands etc. But the capabilities of an entry level DSLR is amazing. Like I said I started with a point and shoot liked it, but had to upgrade to take my pictures to a new a level.
Go to DPreview and look over reviews etc. it will give you tons of info.
