Dig camera

I'm thinking about buying A Fujifilm Fine Pix S1000 digital 10MP 12x optical camera. Anyone own or have used one? Your opinion/comments on this camera?
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that particular camera but the first thing that comes to my mind is that there are a few different models out there now with 20X optical zoom. I've seen the pics you like to take and I think one with maximum zoom would really help you out. I have an olympus with 10 megapixels and 20X zoom. It's fairly new but I think I'm really going to like it a lot!

Yeah Randy, more zoom would be nice. But have limited funds for the time being. I might hold out abit longer, until I can afford more camera & more zoom.

What did your camera cost? & can you post any long range pics?

My camera was just shy of $400.00. It's $100 cheaper when you order it online from Amazon than it is at Best Buy.

I can't put up any long range photos for you from that camera as I had a computer crash last weekend and lost all my recent pictures. I'll try to get some if I get home tonight before dark.

10-4 on the long range pics. Yeah, I looked at that camera of yours. A tad less than $400.00 @ Walmart here.

I also tried out that Fuji camera @ Walmart, appeared to be a decent camera for the money.

Randy,

Found a camera that better suits my hunt conditions & budget, I believe. A Panasonic Lumix DMC-F28 18x zoom, with Image stabilization. I'm still searching though.

Appears the Fuji I looked at above doesn't have any stabilization from what I read on one review.

I looked into that Panasonic too. Seems like a very good camera. I only opted for that Olympus because of the added zoom.

Go to DPreview and look up the camrea. There are many out there. The issue with te large zooms is they have not incerased the recieving chip at all. Basically the processor is not up to par with the zoom. For most people this will allow the average user to point and shoot and be happy. I however found my point and shoot camera to be lacking greatly in low light, action shoots, and wide angle. I saved up and bought a new Pentax DSLR with 2 lenses and fancy carring case, etc. for under $800. I also carry a pocket style Nikon with 4x optical and 10 MP for my stands etc. But the capabilities of an entry level DSLR is amazing. Like I said I started with a point and shoot liked it, but had to upgrade to take my pictures to a new a level.

Go to DPreview and look over reviews etc. it will give you tons of info.

Yeah, I checked out those reviews & a couple other sites. I'm convinced for the time being. On the Pansonic 18x optic zoom.

The F100 is the new version replacing the F50. If you look around a bit you can pick an F50 up for about $189 & it takes some great pics.
