Dillon Precision for the win

Dillon has a lifetime guarantee on their tools. Not the lifetime of the original owner, but the lifetime of the tool.

Electronics are 1 year but most of the hard tools they make are forever.

Well, I have a set of their SS dial calipers, they're about 24 years old now. This weekend while trimming brass I was using the to adjust my case trimmer and a part of the frame broke. They still work, but the thumb wheel broke off.

Just got off the phone, yes, they're covered. No RMA or anything, just send them in & they'll replace them.

these were part of my first order from dillon. after clinton won the 92 election I immediately started on a list of what I needed to buy to start reloading. I had done some but on a friends single stage setup & he had moved away. I decided to go with a dillon press, that first order was a fairly large one LOL. would have been late 92 or at worst january 93 when I bought all that. still using all of it, too.

I bought a 1050 press last spring and haven't even taken it out of the box yet lol. I've heard very little negatives in regards to Dillon.

I've used their swager for a few years now, it's built so well I don't forsee it ever breaking.

Bought a 450 in the mid 80's IIRC and have loaded thousands of rounds of 7.62 NATO & 30-06 on it, and occasionally switched over to small primed calibers.

Ran across a deal on a used 450 so picked it up to set up for small primers (priming system taking the longest when changing setup). When I set up the used press, I found a small plastic bushing in priming system was missing so called Dillon, explained this was a used press I just bought and I'd like to buy said bushing. NO WAY...they sent at no charge.

Needless to say, my bench is solid blue except for the old Herters press I started loading on in 1952 or 3.

Regards,
hm

yeah, I read that this weekend. he left quite a legacy behind.

For convenience I'd like another 550 so I could keep one set up for small primers & one for large. The reality is that changing over really isn't a big deal to swap them out & I don't load enough to warrant the expense of an extra press.

Now if I could find a used one super cheap...

Extras are nice. My last 550 and a BIG Dillon tumbler cost me $50.00. I gave the guy an extra $50.00 for about another $1200 worth of accessories and components and a short ton of factory loaded ammo. He set the price and was well aware of what he had but just wanted to clean out the stuff in the garage. He wanted to see it put to good use.

I'm still shooting some of that stuff..LOL

I rarely get a deal so I figured it was my turn.

I'd love to have another 550 or even a 450. Something to set up to run 10mm on. It's the only large primer round I load in bulk.

congrats on the find, I woulda taken the deal too

boxed up & going out tomorrow. if the next set lasts as long I'll be 79...

Look for a SQUARE DEAL press, they only handle pistol cases but index automatically. I bought mine in 87 or 88. I've loaded thousands of rounds on it. I put the rebuild kit in it last year and ordered another for back up, they sent it to me for free. It's only a $20 something dollar kit, but they bought themselves a lot of free advertising. I have the calipers too and a solid brass flip tray for primers, my vibratory tumbler is still running like it's just out of the box. I now have a 550 as well.

A little more upfront, but a lot of savings down the road !

I sent it out wed using priority mail, so it was delivered today.

I just got an email with a tracking number for the return shipment.

I had some issues with the primer pick up on my 550, so I called Dillon and told him what I thought I needed.

He asked how old it was and I told him I'd probably had it for 26 years, his response was nothing last forever.....I thought oh boy here we go. He then said I'll send a few parts out to ya, I said great, you want my Visa card number? He said nope, its at no charge to you.

Well three days later my package arrived, inside was every part that has anything to do with priming a case, large or small. That truly is the lifetime "no BS" warranty Dillon advertises.

I bought a square deal in 95 and a 550 in 96. On the 550 my low primer sensor broke the little plastic flap that stops the rod when you have primers in it.One call and a new one in 3 days.Getting a 650 this year I guess I bleed blue!

I didn't notice but there's a serial number on the back of the calipers. I think they actually fixed mine & sent them back, which is even more impressive that simply swapping them out the same day they got them.
