DIY Budget Rifle Build 22-250

Hey guys just wanted to share some photos of new rifle I'm building this winter. My wife just gave birth to our new baby boy so getting out has been tuff, but that is Ok. I have this project to keep me Busy. I bought a Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian 22-250 for 499.99 on gun broker. I was thinking about buying a Grayboe Flagstaff stock but in the meantime, I decided to try my hand at painting the factory stock myself. I have also removed the trigger so I could do the trigger job myself. After watching a few videos, I now have the trigger down to 2 1/2 pounds. It's actually really nice. I have a EGW Base and rings on the way and A Vortex Strike eagle 4-24x50mm Moa Reticle. I'm really happy with how its looking so far. I think I want to build a snow camo model in 243 win next on the same gun platform. I have heard nothing but good things about Howa and these barreled actions so here goes nothing. I plan on loading up some 52 grain Hornady BTHP and Some 53 Grain V-max to try out.

Congrats on the new Bambino! Hope everyone is happy, healthy, and well!

Not sure I would classify painting a stock and tweaking a trigger as "building" a rifle 🤔 Your paint job looks great! Let us know how she shoots.

Thanks man I appreciate that , yeah not necessarily a full build . One day I want to buy a barrel vise and and install my own barrel on a action . That would be fun .

It is a lot of fun and very rewarding. I have a barrel vise and action wrench, but I really enjoy tinkering with Savage rifles. Barrel swaps are super simple. Been contemplating throwing something together on a premium action, but soooo many of my cheaper rifles shoot so well that it is hard to justify the extra money.
