Do ATV's bother coyotes?

Can a ATV be used effectively when getting from one hunting location to another without bothering the coyotes? Do ATV's bother them? I know tractors don't but I haven't figured out if fourwheelers do.

Thanks
Mark

I would think that would depend on how often they are used in the area. If the only people using them in that area are hunting coyotes with them I think they would soon learn a 4 wheeler means danger. If it's on an ATV trail where people are cruising by or starting and stopping all day long I don't think it would be an issue.

Here on the ranch, I think it bothers them when the engine stops. If the engine comes and goes, I don't think it bothers them too much. But I don't really know- they haven't told me.

I just know that I often have success on the second stand after I've parked my ATV.

Same with a vehicle, actually.

I agree with TURBO. I actually work for a natural gas company and am constantly in and out of well locations. I've noticed as long as you keep moving they aren't all that worried, but as soon as you stop to look they get a little spooky...

AKA, dont be afraid to get a little ways away from them. Agreed.

I use my UTV religiously, but as others indicated, don't ride it to your stand and expect to do very well unless you are on the atv trail. I usually park mine 100 yards or more from the stand site and in a gully off the top of the ridgelines ... walking in the rest of the way.

I use my ATV exclusively for Hunting and I park it as close as I can to the spot I am calling from. The more time I am walking is less time I am calling. I very rarely walk more than 50 yards from my ATV.

I called one a few weeks ago that when he came in he couldn't help but see my 4 wheeler, only problem I had was that I missed him.
