Do coyotes eat deer?

You tell me, my buddy's little brother caught this coyote having a little deer snack.

There was two other coyotes helping this big boy out, but I don't think he needed much help.

I think he was just licking its face,,,,my dog does that alot....seriosly i cant figure a deer not fighting back while its still standing..................X

Its butt is pretty bloody. Those coyotes probably worked her over pretty good and she has no stamina left to fight 'em off. (IMHO)

imagine being in a fight for probly 20 minutes and some 30 lb coyote is pulling on your nose. I don't think I would be kicking those legs too much either. The proof is in the pic, look at the rear end of the deer. The coyotes always get a calf from the backend and pull out their endtrails.

The snow is fairly deep, I think they run them to the point of exhaustion, probably not to hard to kill after that.

Yeah that deer probably died a slow painful death, being eaten literally alive.I did see a couple coyotes running a doe, biting its rear,a few years back it layed down with its legs folded under, the only time the yote could actually bite her was in the rump, when he got up front he would get a whack to the head. Not doubting the photo at all, mabye the deer has lost alot of blood and is in shock, totally exausted or hes got it by the throat?

They got this fawn in the spring ((half eaten fawn)) It was hangin out around the lake with mama the previous few days. My woman heard the commotion or seen it happen,....she went to investigate and spooked two coyotes from the fawn....one ran off with the other half. They finished off this half the next day.

Any person that thinks 'yotes don't eat deer is an idiot. I may just be a dumb farm boy, but even as a kid I've seen 'yotes take down and kill deer. There ain't a debate.

'Yotes, cougars, bear. They eat meat, they'd drag your baby off if you left it in the woods. They ain't cute and cudley, they are Predators. Maybe some folks get confused when they hear that word.

Forgot about the time I was bowhunting at a friends farm. Seen the big buck I was after, come charging outa the corn field with 5 coyotes on his six. He turned to stand his ground, the coyotes kinda surrounded him, biting his rear end and whichever legs they could. He stuck one pretty good, pinned it into the ground for a few seconds and it kept it's distance for awhile. Scooped another one up with his antlers and launched it several feet above and over his back. Took off running again, and the chase was on. Kinda wished it had been firearm season!

In the picture with the deer suffering i would have tried to kill them yotes with my bare hands if i had to..I feel bad for that deer dang..

And they devastate fawn's in the spring that is the main reason why i got into predator hunting to begin with..Because i would find half eaten carcasses of fawn's all the time in the wood's..

It's nature, coyotes being coyotes. They do that stuff all the time, it's how they survive. I've witnessed it firsthand and yes I shot one of the coyotes tearing into the deer. Do I hate coyotes because of it… nope. It’s the nature of things.

Don't think of deer as "good" and coyotes as "evil". That's just their places in nature, veggies and meaties.

I quit deer hunting and started Predator hunting because of things like this...I dont know why someone didnt vaporize that coyote...at least for the past 10 years ive gotten even with the deer herd up here...DEATH TO ALL COYOTES !

I think the coyotes deserve respect for there survival skills the are truly a crafty animal that can get by with what is thrown at them. I think there are times when the balance is off but like was said a couple of replys up it is nature. I love everything about the coyote, I love hunting them, watching and learning what makes them tick just MHO. They are my favorite animal to hunt and watch.

I was bow hunting here where I live three years ago and about 30 mins in the tree .I had mama deer and her two fawns eating in front of me and out of nowhere a huge coyote was on there tails. They went into the woods behind me and I never heard the coyote catch any of them. But I can tell you he was flatout trying to eat one if he could have caught it.I was hunting on a cow pasture and we all know coyotes love cow pastures. The coyote population here in VA.is getting worse and some people here do not have any ideal what is happening.I know for sure they are every where because I have 5 game cameras and I have hundreds of pictures of them.I rotate these cameras all the time and every where I put them I ALWAYS get coyotes on them.
