Do Remington 742 semi-auto .308 or 30-06 work as varmint rifles....?

I have a Remington 742 Semi-Auto in .308 and 30-06.... plus a Winchester 100 semi-auto 243 cal. I know they will kill yotes... and have with the 30-06... they have no choice but to stop... quiver... and pee all over themselves. Is it crazy to try and turn them into fast shooting varmint killers...? I know the accuracy will not be as good as a bolt... but it's just a thought about using rifles that could be a mid-range weapon between a bolt and an AR for closer shots out here in the East.
 
I use my 7400 for anything and everything. 150gr. coreloks and they go down fast. Puts a big hole in them but i don't care cause i only hunt them to help out the deer population.
 
I am going to use my 7400 in 308 with 125gr. Speer TNT HP for coyotes. It will hold a 4 inch group at 300 yds and just under an inch at 100 yds. I have a cheap BSA 6x-24x scope on it that has been holding up real well.

Heck yes! shoot what you got. I think it's great to use the same rifle you use for deer or elk hunting on coyotes. I've taken them with my 7mag and 458 win mag with 500 grain solids. Does that make these two rifles good varmint guns???...well, helllll yes!!

I think my Winchester 243 would do well... but right now I'm focused on getting that super trigger spring for my remington that Energy mentioned in his other post. I will be super happy if I can get this rifle to shoot like his. Thanks Guys for your imput.
 
Use what you have and enjoy. I know people that have one gun that they use on elk, deer and coyotes. That being said, they shoot that one gun very well. They know where it hits at 100yds to 400yds.
