Do you hunt predators only?

How many of you just hunt predators? I hunt deer, turkey, squirrels, and predators. I have friends that hunt only deer, my turkey hunting buddy just hunts turkey. I like to stay in the woods as much as possible and mix it up.

I prefer to hunt anything I can call, but do hunt dove and quail too. I know there are people who can call quail, but I'm not one of them.

If it moves and its legal I hunt it..Lol had a buddy one time a few years ago stalk a blackbuck 3d target on a hunt in texes , made a beautiful stalk on it while several of us were sitting on a hill watchin him and laughing

i hunt turkeys(spring and fall),deer and predators. i also mix in some spring steelhead fishing, summer bass and panfish fishing with my kids (3 and 6 yr. olds)then fall comes and salmon and brown trout fishing starts in lake ontario tribs. late sept-early oct. then hunting starts back up again!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Anything and everything in my area that's legal. Deer, turkey, predators, cottontails, jacks, pheasants, ducks, geese, woodcock, coons, other vermin...I miss anything? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I used to hunt just about everything. (pheasant, quail, goose, duck, deer, racoons, squirrel, rabbit, elk, hogs, doves, etc...)

I have focussed primarily on predators for the past 10 years or so. I do call turkeys in the spring, otherwise it's predators 7 months a year.

Deer and elk are my favorites but predators and prairie dogs are a close second. Also pheasants, antelope, ducks, geese and whatever else I can.

Predators are # 1
anything legal after that with rifle, hand, gun, bow, catapult, rocks, sticks clubs.... just kidding after bow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Deer are my first passion. Spend as much time during the season as I can out "thier", but predators have to be second, ducks, turkey, dove, quail, hogs, Javalina, and all other legal game next.

I never cared for Turkeys but I love the Deer hunting experience. In Texas it is getting so that you must be rich to hunt Deer. Leases here cost a fortune. It is such a change to have Landowners seek you out to hunt predators. I have a couple of places that have Deer but the Landowner is saving them for his family and I have no problem with that. One day though we may see the Deer become so numerous that they will be killed as pests.

In this area the quail are almost gone. When I was a boy they were everywhere. Most people say the fire ants killed them out.

I like to hunt Doves but I hate the taste. My son if he ever becomes a Lawyer will make it a crime to hold school during Dove Season. If I remember right last year he skipped on the first day of Dove or Deer season and got an excused absence from our Principal who is also a hunter.

My best hunting experiences were hunting rabbits with Beagles. In East Texas we had thousands of acres to hunt and ran several good dogs. We hated Deer season because the Deer hunters would shoot at our dogs. We had none that would run Deer but they did not know that.

I grew up Coon hunting but the up keep of the dogs and late night hunts were hard on everybody. In fact I really had one good girlfriend who I should have married. I came in late one night tired and hungry and found her in bed with two men. That was such a good woman she made both of them get up and let me lay down. She was like some guns you have after you get rid of them you wish you had kept them.

I had a friend tell that joke about his wife one night in mixed company and was in the dog house for a while.

I pretty much hunt everything that's in season. Deer, crows,
predators(trap as well), turkey, rabbits-squirrels-grouse-
pheasant and doves. Goose hunt sometimes. I also fish in
the spring and summer and shoot frogs and turtles. I am
busy in the outdoors all year long, that's the way I like it

I hunt in this order......Coyotes(no other predators here), turkeys ( spring only ) and coons with My Black and Tans.

Gave up hunting everything that was in season when I got stupid...I mean married...just kidding dear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

3rd Alarm

I love to hunt, and I love to shoot. Coyotes take care of the hunting part (I havent been deer hunting in quite a few years). Prairie dogs take care of the shooting part...Jack rabbits kinda satisfy both parts. I am going after antelope next season.
