Do you remove your suppressor between hunts?

I’m shopping for a dedicated 223 suppressor to fit my 22” bolt gun. Most on my list are 7 to 7.75” which would make my gun longer than my rifle cases. Do folks buy an extra long rifle case to transport the rifle or do you unscrew your suppressor?

Most all my hosts have been shortend to accommodate the added length of the suppressor. Even so, most will not fit in any soft case for transport with the can on accept for a short few. Pun intended.

Airlock industries is a new player in the suppressor world that is putting A LOT of smiles on folks faces that are buying their suppressors. They have very good sound suppression and are crazy short and lightweight like no other can I'm currently aware of. I have a friend with one of their Zero Gravity 6.5 cans and he's been nothing but impressed with it.

When you read the specs on their dedicated 22 caliber centerfire can you'll think it's a misprint and they're talking about a rimfire can but it's not. Only adds 4 inches to your rifle and at 3.75oz they're lighter then the vast majority of rimfire cans.

20", 22 and longer barrels it kind of a pain in ass with longer barrels wearing a Can, and transporting in cases. ( me ), I just use folding chassis on Boltaction, and AR's for hunting just to shorten up for fitting in transport cases . So I just leave the Suppressor on the muzzle wherever I go.
I document 1st Round CB shot with and without wearing Can on muzzle, but also leaving it on, I always have peace of mind of POI of 1st round cold bore shot always same never change .

I bought long cases. I take three suppressed rifles on prairie dog hunts and don’t want to deal with keeping up with loose items, plus it gets a little complicated since I have three different 30 caliber suppressors so it matters which one goes on each rifle. I should have bought three identical so it would be so critical. Live and learn…Also between locations, I don’t want to remove and reattach every time. Same for range trips or other hunting trips. I put a label on each case to specify which rifle goes in each. I have a full size truck so they fit on floor in back. I also build a lockable box for the bed so I can secure them if i am by myself and stop somewhere.
I keep them in the case when going to a location in my side by side or truck.

Actually great question. Remove suppressor between usage or not?

I do, however with the newest suppressor (rimfire) is starting me to question that tactic.

Maybe I shouldn't. Maybe it does or does not matter? Maybe if indexed / aligned properly there is a difference or so slight as to not to matter.
Yay more testing with cans and rifles for POI shift after sighting in as I sure there is not a true "canned" answer.

I remove mine when placed in safe, but leave on gun between hunts just for convenience. I bought a gun case called the "vault" which accommodates a seven inch suppressor on a 22" barrel. My suppressors are direct thread so leaving on the gun between hunts is just easier.

I only remove mine for cleaning the barrel. Or, to move to another rifle. I have no cases long enough for the longer barrels with can. Oh well, but butt stock hangs out the back, no biggie.

None of mine change POI at all with taking them off and putting them back on. Including the relatively light profile #4 contour barrels. Tested and verified.

I have zero qualms about changing or losing zero screwing my cans on & off.

Year before last I zeroed my thermal with the can, hunted with it the tail end of that season. Took the thermal & can off, cleaned the gun & put it away.

Last year, again at the tail end of the season, I mounted the thermal, screwed the can back on, & checked zero.

I take mine off and switch them between rifles all the time. I used to be worried it would cause a shift in point of impact but don't have that concern anymore. I've seen no significant difference on point of impact with suppressors that are removed and then replaced. I've also seen no difference in point of impact switching between a 6.5 mm Thunderbeast ultra 7 and 30 cal Thunderbeast Dominus.
The one thing I haven't done is do any extensive testing in point of impact with suppressor on vs off. I know the velocity will be less without the suppressor, so at longer ranges it would have some impact.
