Do you think coyotes will go in a cage trap?

REId, Dan Brothers,
I believe I ordered the trap from this website a few years back: http://www.wildlife-traps.com/coyote.html

It looks like it has changed a little since then. And the price has gone up some too. Shipping is free. At the time it was the largest trap I could find in that price range. It is a folding trap. If you order one, I would recommend reinforcing it in many areas.
It does not have a pan tension adjustment.
Obviously it worked, but I would rather order one from a custom cage maker. I am looking to buy some cage traps from Schroeder fur. They are much better built than this, and just all around more reliable from what I know. Plus the bait door in the back would be really nice too. Next time I drive through Nebraska I'll be getting some. I think their prices are reasonable (just shipping is what gets you).
That is what I would recommend to anyone looking at getting a larger cage trap.

ksboy2,

I have a whole bunch more caged coyote pictures.

I could post them, but I figured you all would get tired of seeing the same caged coyote from different angles

by the way, what make is that trap you're using?

Coyotes can be caught in cages but not consistently. Young ones for sure, sick one also and the occasional adult but I have never heard of anybody catching them (adults) on a regular basis.
If you add up the trap days in the field per trap per adult caught you will see the numbers are hardly worth going after coyotes with cages even if you could get 200 bucks a pelt.

Dan Gates from Colorado Rid a Critter has over 60 coyote catches in cages in urban type settings. But rural type coyotes are the occassional, not the norm.

Are they adults or young ones? That makes a huge difference and over how long of a time period are we talking. Also how many trap hours are involved per catch these all make a big difference.

I got this one a few years back. Bad winter with deep snow. Young coyote with an odd hair coat (malnourished?). Caught in a older Schroder cage. I'm not sure they make this size anymore.

That looks to be a jumbo sized cage. What are the measurements on it?
