the matte 4x Leupold only comes with the wide duplex reticle.
i have the fine duplex in all of my others. i guess that i could send it to the custom shop and have the FD installed.
the wide duplex is fine..all that mean's is the "thin" part of the crosshairs @ the center..is wider..before they taper out to the thicker part of the crosshair..hope that make's sense ??
Good scope choice!!
Just throwing this out there, but unless you're shooting for groups the heavy reticle can really be an asset in low light or moving targets.
At least it is for my tired old eyes.
My latest calling rig has a 1.5-6 Sightron with the heavy reticle. Works great in our terraine.
Good Luck
You don't want fine cross-hairs, they will disappear when looking into brushy areas or grass. If your on a budget the weaver 4x is decent. Natchezss had a great sale on the Grand Slam a while back.
I just put a Weaver 4x32 Shotgun scope on an H&R 243 Superlight, it's a great little Japan made scope, clear and bright with a 100yd parallax free setting instead of the usual 50-75yd setting of most shotgun scopes. Weighs 8.7oz and is 9.5" long. And as Matt said, Natchez has it on sale for $80.
hey and good to see someone else from "my neck of the woods" here. i am from Tishomingo originally.
i like leupold and have one on each of my rifles except for one.
i was looking at the 4x because i have yet to have time to adjust the power setting on my scope while attempting to shoot a coyote. it is not like deer hunting where the deer comes out and feeds a while and you have to to zoom in or or out and check him out good before pulling the trigger.
those coyotes are always moving and i figure if i get a fixed power scope it will be one less thing to think about when i get one coming to the call. my deer rifle scopes always stay at 3.5 anyway. thanks for the responses ! !
Before I could give you an educated reply, my question to you would be what terrain/conditions you are planning on using it in. Are you more concerned with the brightness of a larger objective, or the wider FOV of a smaller one?
