I was wondering does anybody offer a blemished lower receivers for an AR? I plan on building an AR and might even have it camo dipped after it's completed so the finish on the receiver doesn't have to be perfect.

That will be tough...most manufacturer's are at least 6 months behind on producing AR parts...getting a blem....i doubt it.

Because it is the registered part in the AR platform, most manufacturer's won't let them out blemished with their names on them.

To get something inexpensive look at Double Star, Mega and Stag. They should all be under $100.

Good luck.....let us know what you found

You can get "blem" uppers and lowers at Camp Perry during the National Match shoots. Armalite, RRA, and Bushmaster all had "blem" parts last year there.

If you are handy you may want to look into the 80% lowers but you will need drills , Taps and a drilling jig. All that will run the price of your lower to almost the price of a complete rifle. And i do not know what the legalities of buying an unnumbered lower then finishing it into a completed firearm would be as somwhere along the way it has to be serialized I think. So the BATF&E would get there hands in your pockets anyhow.

Just look for anything that says Hesse on the side. You souldn't have a problem finding a blem.

All seriousness aside, look for the least expensive forged lower you can find. Stag and Mega are both good quality for a few less greenbacks. ...and steer away from anything that has Hesse or Vulcan stamped on it.

Cheers!

You can build all the firearms you want for personal use. You'll get in trouble if you start building and selling without a license.
As long as you possess them and keep them in state, they don't need serials. If you go to sell them, they must be serialized.
