Does anyone use a Bipod

I was looking into putting a Bipod on my 22/250 for the far off shots.
Just wandering if anybody uses them much and what would be the best to get

Thanks in advance

I always use a bipod on a set. I like the ones that are sitdown size. I bought the one shown a couple of years ago from a friend who runs a little gun/pawn shop. Went back to pick one up for my grand baby, but the company went out of business, darn.

I don't like the lay down bipods as I can't get above the grass with them when coyote hunting or for that matter squirrel hunting either.

I used a set of shooting sticks I made up from directions in Varmit Al's website for several years. My biggest gripe about bipods that fasten to the gun is the stress the place on the forarm, especially with wood stocks. Besides that I've found their just way to heavy compaired to a good set of shooting sticks. If you go that route you need to glassbed in some real support consisting of a good metal plate on the inside of the stock for support.

Here's what I'm shooting now. I'm thinking about getting a set of the new slingstiks I saw advertised on one of the hunting shows for the grand baby's gun now that I can't get another like I use on the 204.

It just clips on a nylon ball that's fastened to the sling swivel. It's much lighter than most and allows the gun to tilt and swivel. The legs extend to almost a standing bipod. Darn I'm still griped that they went out of business.

I use a Harris on my varmint rifle but rarely use anything predator hunting. Cover is thick where I hunt and shots are close. Just find the bi-pods hard to reposition quickly when action is fast.

Stcks all the way. I hate bipods for a couple different reaons. Not to mention a set of sticks cost next to nothing to make.

I put one on my Dtech. Very easy to use and very easy to put on and take off. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
