Does Devcon go bad?

I've had this devcon for quite a while, at least a year. I bedded a Savage with it a few months ago and it never fully hardened and had to scrape it all out and start over using acra-gel. I thought it was maybe my fault, maybe not enough hardner. I bedded my SPS Tact. this evening and hope it cures this time. I made sure I mixed enough hardner with it this time. Just wondering if it has a shelf life.

I have Devcon Steel and Devcon Stainless steel here in my shop. I know its more than two years old and it works excellent. The stainless tends to be a bit easier to work in the hardener but I've never had either one of them not set up.

I found out today, it does have a shelf life. Not 100% sure how long. What I do know is I spent most of yesterday evening scraping it out of my gun stock. What a mess!!!
I guess I'll re-do with Acra-gel tommorow. Need a stress break tonite.

Its in the garbage. I'll buy more and start new. I had it, I'm thinking two years, give or take and a buddy gave it to me. I really had no idea how old it was. By the way, I could'nt wait till tonite, I acra-gelled it last nite and it turned out great. Just finished cleaning up the mess. I'll let it cook till this week-end and see if it made a difference. I don't figure it hurt anything.

I asked the tech. support guys at Devcon about the shelf life of Devcon Plastic Steel Putty (A) and the reply was 5 years at room temperature.

Good info. Thanks.
Wonder if it is the same shelf life for their regular epoxy?
I have some Devcon regular two part slow cure liquid epoxy that's older than that, and it seems to be ok; the resin hasn't hardened up yet.

I know the Acraglass and Acraglass gel seems to last and last (on the shelf)... I'm still using stuff I bought 5 years ago, and it still works as well as ever.

Sounds like it may have been operator error. I used it before and never had a problem. The last two rifles I did, the dev-con never hardened.
