Does Hornady make the ballistic tip bullets for Nosler? The Nosler ballistic tip bullet looks just like the VMAX bullet.

Didn't mean to be so short. Their construction is actually a bit different. They each have rather nice production facilities of their own.

I'm 99.9% sure Nosler makes every bullet with their name on it. They sell BT "seconds" at the Nosler factory, so it wouldn't make much sense they buy them from Hornady, then sell them cheap as seconds.

Prabaly not but they are not quite the same. Color being one of those issues as the nosler is white tipped and the Hornady is red. Other than that they do appear much the same. But I doubt both aree made by one company and then sold by the other.

If they were though Hornandy seems to be the likely choice given that they are much cheaper than Noslers so that would account for a sale to Nosler then an additional mark up by nosler for resale.

Actually Hornady does not make or sell BallisticTips. I am sure Nosler has the rights to that name.

Hornady make V-Max......

They are both good bullets but are definitely different.

The BT is better on coyote because of the jacket difference. The rear(back) of the bullet is about 1/16th" thick, I think the vmax is mostly a thin jacket all the way. I feel the Nosler is better for coyotes because if the bullet goes to pieces, the back of it keeps going to the other side and stops or exits.

Nosler was the first American bullet manufacturer to make the "plastic-tipped" bullet successful........Norma came out with a semi-pointed "plastic-tip" bullet in the early 70's but never saw one so i'm not sure what color it had.....but back around 1966 or 1967 a Canadian consortium called CIL (canadian industries limited) under the DOMINION name produced a line of "plastic-tipped" loaded ammunition called SaberTips....a little voice whispers they came in yellow and blue and maybe black plastic-tips but not caliber specific....weight specific,i believe....can't recall with any certainity the cartridges but for that era i would guess 270,30/06 and maybe 6.5 but not real sure....maybe someone else can clarify.

I used to shoot NBTs exclusively, but switched over to Hornady when I realized I was getting 100 comparable bullets for the price of 50 Noslers.

I do wish Hornady would do the caliber specific color coding that Nosler provides though.
