Does your Cabelas have trigger locks?

I bought a M&P 2.0 compact from a Cabelas in Wichits, Ks about a month and a half ago. None of the firearms in the displays had trigger locks. Last week I was in Kansas City and every gun had trigger locks. A guy was looking at a pistol and wanted to know if the trigger lock could be taken off so he could feel the trigger. The store clerk says no. So, the customer hands the gun back to the guy and says, well I'm not interested then. The salesman then proceeds to tell him that a guy committed suicide a couple weeks ago in a Bass Pro or Cabelas buy throwing a round in the chamber of the gun he was looking at and shot himself in the head right in front of the salesman so thats why the trigger locks now. Idk, sounds fishy to me or it seems we would of heard all about it on the internet.

I have been to the cabelas in Ct and Ma and the Bass Pro in Ma within the past month. None of the guns behind the counter had locks on them. The used guns in the wooden racks out on the open floor had locks them but they only had rifles and shotguns.
If the story is true, maybe they are locked while an investigation is going on or something to that effect.

I am so glad I no longer work for Cabela's. Johnny Morris is destroying the brand. From his employee policies to the terrible product cross overs.

The Wichita Cabelas has historically had locks on all triggers not in the racks behind the counters and has been off and on having them on the racks. If they have to hand you the firearm, it traditionally has not been locked, but the used racks out on the floor in front of the gun library has almost always had locks.

I have also been there when they had the pistol triggers locked, and would not remove them. It’s been maybe 2wks since I’ve been, but my wife handled a couple pistols while we were there, no locks on pistols then.

I am a few minutes from KC Cabelas and Bass Pro. I didn't hear anything about the clod doing himself in at Bass Pro, but I don't watch much TV either. I had to do a search myself a few weeks ago on the subject.

That person had to be cracked up. I mean come on why get other folks involved in killing yourself. That falls into the people that jump in front of trains or trucks, why ruin others lives when disposing of your own. Sorry I have no compassion for them when there are people fighting for their lives every day trying to get another day.

So if they lock up the triggers so be it. Not that I like it, nor would it stop me from making a purchase. It's not like buying a car and going for a test drive. I have been to ONE shop in the last thirty years that you could actually fire the gun before ya buy it.

Talk to a fellow last week, Cabelas "Ohio" and soon all firearms will have locks.
He told me, no one is buying pistols.

You can not take off the lock until you leave the store and they walk you outside.

I have never seen a store here with trigger locks. We do have a store/range here that has had several people rent guns and kill themselves on the range.

Shopping in both BassProshop and Cabelas is getting increasingly painful since their merger, especially since Cabelas recently decided to eliminate their bargain cave. But, heh, I wouldn't kill myself over it.
