dogtown bullets

Just keep an eye on RPM, they don't like 9-twists.
RPM ceiling is about 240,000RPM.
Beyond that, I like them and the Varmint Nightmares!

Just what is the limit on rpm? I run the 17 cal 20 grains at 4025fps out of a 9 twist and get along super. If I figure that right that is over 320,000 rpm. I run the 50 grain 22cals at 3300 for 264,000 rpm out of a 9 twist savage. I'm not sure it can be proven of paper, but a lot of guys think that rpm helps bullet upset on contact with a critter and thusly ups killing power, particularly on smaller varmints. My experience leads me to agree with this theory, so I kind of like to put some "spin" on them, and for volume shooting, those dog towns and varmint nightmares are a good deal.

Just an FYI
Varmint Nightmare Extreem Bullets at Midsouth are even cheaper, I just ordered
some the other day.
However I have not used either, but can't wait to try them out.

That is from a 12-twist barrel. I went round and round with Midway a few years back on this very issue. I was told in an email that they would "put up this important bit of info" on the website. They haven't, but not really surprising with them; or the fact that this isn't a high profit item for them.

One lot of them I could get close to 250,000RPM in my 9-Twist, the rest I couldn't. Obviously barrel smoothness plays a key role in this. Don't know if THAT RPM limit applies to the sub-22 cal bullets or not. Although Midway NOW says that they are a Nosler bullet, at the time they finally told me to call Sierra, as Sierra was "familiar with them" but they couldn't state(due to contract reasons) who actually made them. Sierra was the one that gave me the approx. RPM limit, although they wouldn't say who did make them(this is 2 years ago), it was NOT them.
