Double Shoulder Rifle Sling (like TAB's revealed at SHOT)

So while deer hunting and coyote hunting last fall I felt a serious need for a double shoulder rifle sling because at around 15-16lbs (gun, can, bipod, ammo) it gets a bit rough on the neck and shoulder to lug it around all day.
I knew I could come up with a way to make a double shoulder rifle sling, but was concerned with all the "stuff" that would hang off the side of the rifle. It doesnt seem to be a combat sling by any means...but the design I came up with works great for my usage.
Carry it a few miles, spot a critter, take it off, set up bipod, shoot. I dont do much for shooting free hand so i dont mind if the sling is basicly 2 times the size as a single shoulder sling.
It has D rings on the front to act as a binocular clips, eliminates the need for a cross back binocular straps. molle spots on the front to hold mags pouches, kestral pouch, iTouch or whatever.

I was browsing around the SnipersHide today and of course, It seems someone else (with quality machines to make GREAT stuff...TAB Gear) had the same great idea. My pics are of the first design I used during coyote season. Mod 2 that I am working on now, is a bit more similar to the TAB style in that it has separate straps instead of the single U shape and it also has 1.5" webbing instead of 1". Mine has the push button QD swivels now but should be easy to make it able to switch them out to something else.

Go check out the TAB sling for sure! Its a GREAT concept and of course, high quality. It's the "TAB Gear Biathlon Sling" and it was supposedly at the SHOT show.

I cant afford a $125-$175 sling so I am MORE than happy with the one I designed and built myself, and cant wait to unveil some of the things I have been working on lately. When Mod 2 is done, i will hopefully be offering them for sale.

Here is a preview. All my stuff is done out of a 1 bedroom apt with an $80 sewing machine. Quality components are the key.

cbass16,

Although I appreciate your efforts in designing yourself a rifle sling. I feel that I should inform you that I am the original designer of the double shoulder rifle sling (The Outlaw Sling) that is on the market right now.

I have also applied for, and I am currently awaiting for the Patent to be approved. You may want to reconsider marketing your sling, as the Patent that I have applied for provides me with infringement protection.

I have been marketing the Outlaw Sling since May 2008. I also provide add-ons such as D-Rings, Molle Loops, Shell Holders, Hand Call Holders, Quick Releases, and recently a new model Outlaw Sling called the Outlaw Sling QR, where the lower straps are on quick releases, so that a person may release the sling quickly. I also provide sling swivels attached with slides or they may be sewn on permanately.

I know that this is not a good way to get to know someone, and I am not trying to start a fuming war, or trying to make enemies. I just thought that you should be informed about my Patent protection rights.

As you can see from Matt's (emtpredator) post above, he is a ProStaff for Timber Butte Outdoors. I also have several other ProStaff members of Team TBO.

To see more of our products, please feel free to go to our website at: www.timberbutteoutdoors.com

Thank You.
Gary

I like the idea of the double shoulder sling. Looks like TBO beat ya to the punch. Just make it 35% different and your good. I like competition, just makes a better product for the consumer.

Appreciate the heads up, however, you may want to contact TAB if you are upset about trademark issues. This is not something I plan to market, and though my current design in the picture does resemble yours, the version I am working on now does not.

The people over at TAB are talking about $125-$175 for theirs and that is completely outlandish...yours is much more economically priced.

no worries what so ever...I am just one of those guys that when i have a need, and cant find a product to meet the need...i make my own stuff. I have had a couple occasions where I think i have this great new idea, only to realize later that someone else has done it and i just hadn't noticed. The same thing happend recently on a ghillie suit design I was planning; turns out, someone beat me to the punch on that as well. truly unique ideas are a rare commodity these days.

You should think about getting your sling out to a few larger manufactures. I get most of my gear from larger suppliers, perhaps thats why I had never heard of the Outlaw Sling. Get that out to Cabelas, Scheels, Gander Mt, Bass Pro Shop etc. and you'd have a nice sales increase I'm sure.

I also use an outlaw sling, and it is GREAT. I lug around a 14 pound rifle for all of my hunting and it sure makes it easier to pack that thing for a mile. I agree, I don't know if I will ever go back to a single strap.

cbass16,

I understand what you are saying about building your own equipment - I am there also - that is how the Outlaw Sling got it's start.

I have to give the credit for the Outlaw Sling, to Our Good Lord! He is the one that blessed me with the idea, therefore, I give Him the Praise.

cbass16, Keep at it, the Lord will guide you, and you will come across something that hunters/shooters will need and can't live without.

Thank You for the advise. I have talked to a couple of larger ditributors, but found that I can't do what they want until I can grow and expand my business. I do have plans to expand, I just have to save the money & make the time, to complete my plan.

To everyone that has written here, and those that haven't; I "Thank" you for your purchas & useing the Outlaw Sling, and finding it to be a better way of carrying your rifles, enough to switch from the traditional sling. I Thank You for your support and business.

I appreciate your kind words of support here in this post and elsewhere. It is good to see that people are satisfied and happily using their Outlaw Slings and other TBO products. Thank You all.

Gary
