Done a lot of looking on here but can't find anything about this specific DPMS rifle. Has anyone owned one, currently own one, or have any input on this rifle? I'm in the market for a new coyote gun for next season and think that I am going to go with an AR of some sort. Not looking to build one or anything just need something that will drop a yote. Or if you have any other suggestions for a completely assembled AR feel free to post those as well. I'm only looking to use this gun on yotes, calling and spot and satlk. Thanks for any input.

Yeah I checked the main website a while ago thats actually where I got the idea for this as my next yote rifle. Just looking for real world experiences and personal opinions.

Its a Plain DPMS rifle with White furniture is all.
Since I prefer DPMS lowers over all others for no real reason other than I have used them for years and had flawless luck and function and they are Teflon Coated.

Heres what I would do.
YOu can buy a complete AR and Spend a tad more for less of a gun. Or, Buy a complete lower(of your choice of course).
And Buy the white furniture from DPMS.
Have D-tech assemble you an upper using the better bbls of the SUM. You will get the upper and set it on the lower and push the 2 pins and have a better AR than you can buy.
The AP DPMS rifle is a top shelf AR for sure,but I think you will get a better bbl through D-Tech. I push his work for no other reason than he uses a better BBl than any other builder or CO.
So the real question is: Do you want a mediocre bbl or a guaranteed sweet shooter? Cause D-Tech tests them and makes sure all is top notch. The sweetest part is,his uppers are what you would pay for a box upper.

The stock triggers are usually the first to go,so you may want to consider that also. Id go as far to say a stock trigger is very hard to shoot,and especially in a new rifle.
I'll bet you could get the AR you want,a much better trigger,and the white furniture with a much nicer bbl for less than or close to the stock DPMS. DPMS is my friend,but I love those SUM bbls.You might even get the Bi-pod and scope and rings for under that. Depends on your choice of glass.LOL Ok enough /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My older Bro aka(1dog) has one, 16" Heavy-Bull Stainless barrel(NON-Arctic). I've watched him blaze away on a 1/2 doz. running dogs, I've spotted for him. He tagged-n-bagged around 1/2 of them, useing 50 & 55gr Ballistic-Tips.

His rifle is very accurate,(although "he" could stand alittle improvement, tho...LOL!) I wouldn't hesitate to buy one personally. If you buy "ANY" AR. Make sure it has a "Forward-Assist" Which come in very handy, for completely closing the bolt.

I like the "forward assist" so I can "quietly" chamber a rd. Prior to stalking in on the dogs, eh.

one of my close friends has one.. shoots very well... the white will stain easy if you arent careful with greasy/carbon covered hands... just have to keep a rag close.. Brien
 
Thanks for all the info everyone. Jerry White, I am considering the option that you mentioned. Like I said before I am a complete rookie when it comes to AR's so I'm wondering, if I would get a D-Tech upper in .243 WSSM will a .223 Rem. DMPS lower work with the upper? My first guess would be no but I'm willing to look like an idiot and ask. Thanks

No question is dumb if you don't know the answer. Yes the lowers and uppers on just about all AR's will interchange. That is the best part of the AR system. Once you have a good lower, all you need to do is add uppers of your choice to fit your needs. Good barreled uppers are what makes an excellent rifle however you need a good trigger in your lower. This is why I like DPMS rifles as you can get the JP trigger from the factory installed. I have several DPMS rifles and consider them one of the best on the market today. I also hear good things about the D-Tech systems as well.
 
If you know anyone who is a member of the VHA, the January 2005 issue of The Varmint Hunter Magazine had a 4 page article on the DPMS Arctic Panther. It received a favorable writeup by the gentleman who wrote the article.
 
Yep, I read the article. It was also another reason I started looking at the Arctic Panther. don't remember the exact phrasing of the article but in general the part that caught my attention was that he said it was the most accurate gun out of the box that he had shot. That was against bolt actions and other semi-autos. Biggest drawback I saw was that it weighed over 9 pounds!
