Dpms carbon fiber handguard to samson evolution swap

Hey guys! I have a lr243l and I'm wanting to swap the hand guard over to the samson evolution. I've read up a little on heating the carbon fiber up to remove the tube but I'm still not 100 percent positive on what all I need to remove and what special tools I'm going to need to buy.

I'm in the process of ordering everything for this project. So far these are the things I have on my list.
1. Samson evolution dpms lr308 low profile tube
2. Dpms gas tube

Will I be alright reusing my current low profile gas block? Do I need to buy some sort of barrel nut for the new samson? What key tools am I missing?

Im extremely thankful for any and all advice!

I work with those carbon fiber tubes and you can probably remove it all in one piece with a strap wrench. The barrel nut will come off with it. You should be able to reuse your gas block and tube. BTW if your old tube is in good shape I'd be interested in it for the right price.

The Samson Evolution mounts to the standard barrel nut. Samson includes everything needed mount their FF handguard. No need to purchase anything else.

For tools to install the new hand guard you're going to need a barrel but wrench/armorers wrench, and a 1/2" torque wrench. I know lots of guys don't use a torque wrench but I like knowing exactly what torque I'm putting on it. I spend a lot of time to torque them as low as is recommended because less stress on the upper/barrel extension/barrel usually leads to more accuracy. Works for me but might not always be true.

Also, you shouldn't need a new gas tube, unless yours is damaged.

Sharp rig! Hate to cover up that new tube, but if you're wanting something a little warmer to grab, just wrap the forearm in Vet Wrap. Protects the weapon and is nice to hold when it's cold out. I do 3-4 layers on my Hogue tube. It makes it warmer to hold and provides outstanding grip even when wet. Pretty tough to beat for $2.99 a roll, and it comes in several colors (I like the zebra pattern in the snow and woodland camo for summer time calling)
