DPMS Lo-Pro Classic?

I just found one yesterday for $784 locally. I don't really have the money, but I am really thinking about picking that one up. I am also interested in any opinions anyone has.
 
I have hunted with a 20" DPMS Bull Barrel(see Avatar), a 16" M4, and an 18" R-15.

For me the 20" BB was way to heavy. I like the 18" and 22" R-15s without the flash hider.

However, that is a screaming deal on that DPMS! If it was here for a FTF it would have to find it's way into my safe.

Definitely a good deal on that DPMS. The lo-pro is a pretty decent Ar for calling. It's got a 16" heavy barrel, making it a little heavy, but not terrible. They balance fairly decent and are pretty quick aiming seeing that you only have to swing 16" of bull barrel rather than 20". For that price it'd be a great first AR. Meaning that if you're not sure if you a fan of hunting with an AR, as some people are die hard bolt guys, it's a good first step without breaking the bank, as opposed to a R-15 which will run you about $300 more. I'd go for it, and at this point, you won't loose any money on it even if you should choose to sell it down the road!
 
almost bought one in reno when i was there a couple weeks ago. they look and feel great. Also DPMS do i dont think it will do you wrong.

no the Lo-Pro does not have either....
 
Basically I'm wondering if I should spend a little more and get the sweet 16. I just hate to buy something then wish I didnt down the line.
 
I'm the same way Ozzy. I'm a all or none kinda guy, and hate buyers remorse. When I first got into the predator game I was carrying my 20" DPMS Panther and ended up buying a bolt gun that was nice and light for carrying a few miles a day. After a few months with that, I ended up splurging on a R-15, and I'm more than happy with it. I sold the DPMS since I wasn't using it much anymore, and haven't looked back. The good thing about the AR platform is that you can always upgrade/swap parts down the road, and the Lo-Pro is a good start for that. You could throw a ACE skeleton stock on it, and a light weight free float tube and have a great little rig, not to mention for that price range, you can't feel too horrible for taking some krylon to it.
For the few hundred dollars more your paying if you go with the Sweet 16, I'd look into a R-15 or RRA Coyote. This is all assuming you're looking for a new dedicated calling rig though, as the Sweet 16 isn't much different of a gun than the lo-pro, minus the stainless barrel, dust cover and forward assist. Either way, any of the above mentioned AR's are great little guns that will more than suffice! Let us know what you end up getting, we all love a little eye candy!

I have the Sweet 16 and have been very happy with it. It does get a little heavy when I carry it a long ways. You'll also want to get a better trigger. Other then that its a great gun and it shoots sub MOA at 100 yards

I'm thinking I'll go with the sweet sixteen. I figure I can always get another upper down the line like a D-Tech to my liking. Thanks for all the input folks.
