DPMS LR 308L

I am looking to purchase one of these rifles soon. The reason I am looking at this particular rifle is because of its weight. I think it tips the scale at just under 8lbs unloaded. Was wondering if anyone out there has any ideas (from personal experience) of the accuracy I can expect from the light contour barrel.

Thanks

While I dont have first hand experience with this certain rifle, everything that I've read is that you just cant beat the DPMS accuracy in the 308s regardless of which model you get.

I personally dont mind the extra weight and want to get into some longer range stuff so I went with the 24 bull barrel.

Again, no first hand knowledge (just what I've gathered on the inerweb) but as long as you stay about 400 yards and in the 18 should be a great shooter!

Thats not to bad. I will be using it for hunting hogs at under 200 yards. Did you notice that your point of aim changed as soon as the barrel got hot or were you able to get 10 or so rounds down range. This is the only concern that I had about this rifle since the barrel is a light contour.

My kid is going to be using the heavy barrel model for elk hunting in a few weeks. Heavy gun but I think he plans on sitting alot!

I know this is off topic but I went elk hunting in cimarron new mexico a few years ago and loved it. Would love to go back! Beautiful country.

I was looking for the same rifle a year or so ago. I couldnt find it in stock any where so I bought the LR 308B.. And I have no complaints about it. Shoots great and functions flawlessly. I have not saw anyone say anything bad about the LR 308 models.. Any of them. I would say it would be a sweet rifle. I was also looking at that rifle because of the lighter weight. Should be a sweet rifle..
