DPMS vs. Bushmaster

So I have decided to get into the AR world right after I get my motorcycle paid off. Since I really dont have that much off an income anymore since my summer job is done I am deciding on getting either a bushmaster or DPMS. Either of the 2 is going to be an A3 and have a 16 inch barrel. Now I know that lots of you guys have ARs and wanted you input into this.

I don't know how good a bushmaster is but its hard to argue with this

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I love my DPMS .204, but I don't know how it compares to a Bushmaster /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif But like Dan said they are a sponsor.

I have both and like both. If i was buying new and was choosing between the two, i would probably go with the Bushmaster 20" v-mach or the 20" predator. I prefer than barrel contour of the v-match and predator over the bull contour of most DPMS rifles. I also like the 8 twist which DPMS and the Bushy predator offer. Like Dan said. Bushmaster is a sponsor of PM and I like to support our sponsors.

I'm like Verminator2.

The only really accurate factory .223 I have, that is not a custom barrel, is my 16" DPMS bull barrel. I don't own a Bushmaster so I can't comment on them.

If, for some reason, I could only keep one of my 4.5 ARs,,, the DPMS would have to be my choice..

I have a DPMS 16" varmint upper that I bought from Midway for around $450.
It shoots outstanding with 68 and 69 grain bullets. When I bother to shoot at the benchrest it reliably puts 5 shots well inside 1/2" at 100 yards. I did try some Winchester white box varmint ammo and it didn't do nearly as good though. More like 1+" groups.
Real surprising for a cheap upper.

Can't comment on Bushmaster and since it is my only DPMS can't even say if mine is typical.

I have a Bushmaster 16" 223. I just got it a while ago and haven't been to the range to test for groups, but have gone and plinked. So far has run good and hasn't given me any problems.

Only one AR here! Bushmaster VARMINTER! 24 inch 1-9.
Shoots great, sub MOA! PDogs CoyDogs and FCats absolutely HATE IT! I think they probably all shoot great.
Heck, what much more can you do with the same basic design!

Call Mike at Dtech. He is a wealth of AR info and can make something at a great price. Plenty of info him on this site. My DPMS 16" upper is great but the backorder may be months.

Good luck

I had a Bushmaster varminter that could shoot a one cluster 5 shoot group you could cover up with a dime at 100 yards shooting 40 CTs backed by 28g of Benchmark. Off hand I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it and it also rattled from all the loose parts. I couldnt get used to shooting it so its no longer in my battery. I didn't care for all the loose rattling parts on it as well. I'd try a DPMS next time around. Maybe in a 300 SARUM.

I do not know the $ amount of the basic Bushy or DPMS. I do know however like trashcan said that you can get a good quality Olympic Arms K-16 for $629 from Dtech. That if it hasn't changed in the past 2 months you even get a hardcase and a 30 round clip for that price. You may want to look at that option. I have a Dtech built from Olympic Arms parts and have loved it so far. By the way with that price I believe Dtech said he polish ramps and even a trigger job on the stock trigger for that price. But call him and see what he can do for you.
