Drag/carry rope

I've seen some pictures with some guys that have some kind of homemade drag/ carry rope with them either dragging or carrying over their shoulder the coyotes. As much as I can make out it has some kind of wood handle with a short rope and the rope goes around the legs of the coyote. Seems like it's a lot easier than just grapping the legs.

Anybody have one and could you post some pictures so I could copy it?

My drag is pretty simple. Simply buy a small dog leesh and choker chain. Like the ones for tiny poodle type dogs. I keep it in the butt compartment of my AR.

Open the jaw of the coyote and cinch down the choker chain onto the top. The top teeth prevent it from slipping off. Make sure the coyote is dead before you do this!

Get 4 feet of small nylon rope, tie a slip knot in each end, you just built your first carry strap. If you want a drag, just slide a stick of wood or tree branch in one slip knot and drag.

I have a couple of those braided carriers similar to what Jeff made Snowman.
Mine were made several years ago by a former HOB here, "guywildstorm" aka Guy Clark, out in Colorado.
Don't know if he's still even on the forum.
I do know Jeff's work is just as top-notch...if his drags are anything as good as his lanyards.
And Jeff's prices won't break the bank either.

If you're a DIY, and really have a super-tight budget......
You can go to the hardware store & buy a 3ft-4ft piece of 1-1/2" or 2" wide, flat nylon strapping. (per how ever many drags/carrying straps you want)
Once home, singe the ends of the straps.
Then tie a slipknot in both ends, to slip around feet/teeth/whatever.
I've got a gouple of these that I made myself years ago, & they work well.
Not pretty to look at, but dead critters aren't concerned with looks. Hahahaha

I also have used a "deer drag" in the past, if I didn't feel like carrying the critter.
I don't know if anyone still makes them, as I've had mine for about 20 years.
It's a big 2" wide loop strap, that you can either throw over your shoulder (or across your chest) like a harness/sling.
It has a nylon rope tied to it that's about 6' long.

Below is a link to a pic of one.

Jeff - fw707 builds very nice one as Mo said. I use his as well as one I made myself from a bamboo pole wrapped in knots I learned from the world wide interweb.

I also have a parachute cord style drag lanyard. If I have to I could drag four coyotes out with it, but I haven't been that lucky yet. They are handy.

I use the one I bought from Jeff(fw707) all the time. I even got to drag a few on some ice/snow which rarely happens around these parts.

A closer picture that also shows the handy dandy brass catcher that reb8600 makes.

I made mine from paracord, tied some rings in the ends and the other through a 1/2" pvc tube about 4" long, perfect drag. I also made others with standard nylon cord that's used for small engine starting cord since its pretty strong stuff.

I've got a roll of duck decoy cord in my pack for dragging. I just find a stick for a handle and use some cord. Works good for dragging on snow.

Guys,
I really appreciate the compliments on my stuff!!
I've got a drag tied up in a copperhead/neon orange combo that's ready to go. I gotta get a picture loaded up as soon as I can on the accessories forum.

Thanks Tim!
It's great to see pictures like that from folks like you, Mo, and David and the other guys that really use the stuff that I make.
When I started making and selling the lanyards and stuff I decided I was gonna take all of the profits and buy 3000 acres in Alabama and build a 4000 sq. ft. house right in the middle of it.

After a couple of weeks I decided I'd just make some good stuff for my friends that liked to hunt.

I'll set you up with a 3000 acre piece of property with lots of deer and turkeys.
You just gotta promise to stay skinny enough to outrun the dang game warden!
