Drags - Could use yall's help

My ranching neighbor has been custom building drags me and a local trapper. This is what we use here. I've caught a mess of coyotes that hang up in just thick grass, let alone on mesquite brush. He is now wanting to build them on his own to sell. They utilize the hard to find stainless cotton picker tines and weigh in at 3 lbs. They have a box swivel welded onto them. Like most things built on a ranch, these things are built to last with serious burned in, strong welds.

I plan on taking a bunch of these to the NM Trappers Association Meeting, this month to sell.

My question is, what is a fair price for these.

Here is a picture of of some of my personal ones. They are a heavier model, around 5 lbs, utilizing thicker rod.

Next to a Montana #3 for size comparison.

I'd appreciate any and all comments/opinions.

Thanks...

The question is how much does it cost to make the drags and how much time does it take your rancher buddy to make one. F & T trading post charges 5$ for their crappy drags. I like the looks of yours alot better,

It takes him about 30-40 minutes to build one, not counting the time and gas to harvest the tines. These babies are built super heavy duty. I've tried the cheap, flimsy, light commercial ones in the past. I was thinking somewhere in the $10-$12 range, but didn't want to overprice.

Thoughts?

Thanks...Tony

id go ten a peice and a hunnert ten a dozen i like them montanas to ; ) ill be up here a lil longer looks like be back there around septmeber. tell everyonei said hi at cnvention if ya can.

They need a half or third loop on the back of them to make sure the chain never wraps on the back. The best design I know of is the Armageddon drag from O'Gorman's. They are if I remember, 140 or so a dozen, 3 different weights.

there is a way to stop it from hitching on the back and very
simple ....that desighn has been used a looong time and very effctively mind ya
whats the diffrence between o goremans armogeddon drags and eddie wimberlys??

I don't think there is any difference. Didn't Eddy get out of the drag buisness and o gorman started building his line.

I have some wimberly plows and in my opinion they are as good as it gets.

Tony they look like decent drags, I think 10 each is a fair price.

x2

think its something o goreman calls re invention of the wheel?

Wimberly designed the "anti-hitch" on his grags. I like the looks of those drags. Do they leave quite of sign to track? I run quite a few Montanas and have been really satisfied with the performance of the trap.

they usually hang in the clay or leave a cut in the surface of the soil. It seems to me I saw some Wiimberly plows without the antihitch loop, but I could have been mistaken. The forged points really help, they are so sharp they can draw blood!

tony thats the same ones we all use here, we found if you will just off set the spine tip 1/2 or 1 inch above the T instead of angling them high, seems to hang better in less cover, i have my t smaller too just so its easier to put under a trap. i have the same drags that are out of 1 inch bar and about a foot and half long and a foot wide that i use for snaring hogs, they do work good, if a guy need drags those are good ones, wouldnt be the guy with the black dog making them would it?
