DTACS ?

I keep hearing you folks talk about the DTAC bullets. What are they, where do I get them, do they come in different calibers and weights? I shop for reloading supplies mostly at the local shop in Tulsa and I'm sure they don't carry them. I assume they are mail order. Sounds like a good bullet, tell me more. THANKS

I'm going to try some once I get a 1-8 twist barrel on my .243 AI. The 111 gr. sounds real interesting, want to try them out on yotes, and with a B.C pushing .600 it oughta be a good 1000 yard bullet.

I will probably give them a try in the Dasher. I'm not going to get too excited about any DTAC's after hearing about his last polymer tip bullet design. Tubb last designed the 117 and so many people had problems with the plastic tips falling out, he must have given up the idea. I would hate to be the guy who custom chambered his rifle for that bullet. Like everything I will wait and see how they work for everyone else first.

Didn't know about the poly tips falling out. I definately won't chamber my rifle for that, probably more like the 87gr. V-max. I have heard good reports with the 115 though, may give them a try sometime too.

I have heard good reports on the 115 DTAC also. It looks like a Sierra matcking. I don't think your gaining too much b.c. over the 105 VLD's, and lose velocity with a smaller case. A .243 A.I. would be ok.

The 111gr bullet has arisen from the 117 simply based on the fact that you won't lose much BC, but you loose some bearing surface and thus can push it faster with the same pressure...it should be a good bullet. 40gr of H4350 will get you to 3000 fps easy, and the rest will be up to you.

When my current .243 barrel takes a dump, a 7.5 twist Rock is waiting in the wings to launch those 111 DTACS. But for now, the 87gr Vmax performs real well out to 600yds...
