Hello everyone ,, has anyone here have experience with the duracoat in spray can form? Im looking to refinish my Remy 870 in matte black but not sure about rust under the duracoat and its durability,,, what are your guys opinions ??
I did this to the mag tube of my camo'd 870. Because i was having trouble with it rusting. I cleaned it as best i could with steel wool and action cleaner. Its been about a year now, and its still looking good. The rust never bothered anything i just hated having it on there. Have done a 1911, and a savage 223 with this stuff. All have turned out well to my standards. Just make sure you clean it very well and get all the oils off. Hang it, and do 3 or 4 coats with light passes each time so it doesn't pool. Take your time and you will be good to go. Holler if you have any more questions or want some pics.
Thanks for the reply dw32005. And yes i would love to see some pictures of how they turned out,,, i just want a matte black finish but worried that it might rust underneath the duracoat without me ever knowing.
No it won't rust under it. The prevail kits work pretty well. I used it first. Here is my duracote 7 mag and a 260 I just did a few months ago. my 7mag has been finished for 7 years
Thanks guys,,, im definitely refinishing my 870 now and i will upload the pics when finished,,,and unfortunately i dont have a big enough ove nastynatefish
Here's a pic of my Rem 700 crew I did last winter. Used Preval sprayer and Duracoat. I think I have done 4 rifles now in Duracoat and I couldn't be happier.
