e-caller tech questions

Building a remote caller out of a portible cd player, a line-x transmitter and now have a portable boombox for the fm reciever. The transmitter frequencies range from 88.0Mhz to89.2 MHz and can be recieved on the boombox. Problem is the boombox volume and weight. I liked the transmitter due to the 49.00 shipped price, smaller than a deck of cards, and the long range (tested at 100 yards easy). Would like to use a small portable fm reciever and amp/speaker combo. Would the R/S amp and speaker combo be a good way to go at this point? Also for the super tech guys the frequency response on the transmitter is 20Hz-15KHz. Any comment on this?
Also built this past weekend a remote controled decoy. Havent tried it yet but it turned out nice. Any forums on remote decoys??
Thanks Chap

I tried to do the FM transmitter thing here and it worked great until I got out into the desert and was picking up all the low power Spanish radio stations. The dogs didn't respond well to high pitched cottontail backed by the three amigos on accordian. It really sucked! I'd stick with the wireless transmitters like Nady.

Thanks for the input Tony. Didnt have any extra transmissions here in rural Idaho. Ever hunted the San Carlos reservation outside of Phoenix? I tried it just last week, but didnt have any sucess. I got the permit from the rec office, but they werent able to provide me with a adequate map showing the boundaries. Not being familiar with the area at all, I didnt want to hunt where I wasnt supposed to, and the roads werent marked to tell which roads they were. I was a little frustrated by the whole thing. I know they have alot of acres to hunt, but felt out of my element I guess.

Hey Chap- Yeah the reservations are pretty primitive. Hell they don't have steet signs where the houses are, how can you expect them to mark the roads out in the boonies. I've never hunted on any of the rez's because I just don't have the patience for all the bull$h!t that's involved.

If you're not getting any radio stations on your FM system then go for it. I don't remember how far my Canada Kit transmitted but it wasn't that bad except for the interference. If you're ever back in this area again give me a call and we'll hook up.

Welcome to the PM boards, Chap.

I looked into the FM transmitters, too, but I didn't find one that had the dynamic range I was looking for. I'd noodled around with an EQ filter in the sound editing program Goldwave, and live-recorded mouse coaxer sounds, before deciding I really wanted and needed a system that went to 20KHz. (I picked up a Nady wireless mic for around $80 and change and I've been happy with the results.)

Most of the commercial callers, however, have speakers that only reproduce tones up to about 15KHz. Lots of guys call lots of critters with them anyway.
