I heard mountain lion is very good as well... Did you debone the quarters and back straps, then grind it up? I have been thinking about trying it to... I was thinking of chicken frying strips..
That might be tough because it was 13... I thought cat was darker meat... Never eaten but after skinning they appear dark like a deer, not lighter like turkey breast for example...
There are a lot of jokes about cats and oriental restaurants... Maybe they are on to sumthin
A bunch of years ago I was on a hunting trip to Argentina. At the evening meal the guide asked me if I knew what I was eating. I thought it was a poor quality steak, kind of tough and chewy. He brought out the head and hide of a big MT. Lion. Only time I ever ate it, I think.
Tried bobcat this season with a cat I called and killed. Very lean, lighter meat and tasty. I still have a back strap in the freezer. Will definitely eat it again.
Yeah it's lighter like pork or at least this guy was. Just boned it out and ground it. My son was the only one who didn't like it.. Which was funny cause he was wolfing it down until I said bobcat.
It's been too many years, so I don't really recall the taste, other than it was good. But, back about 20 years ago, I ate some bobcat backstrap at a BBQ a friend had.
just the other night a few of my buddies and I met up before military duty and we were all carrying on and somehow eating one of the many reds I shoot came up....long story short a buddy of mine drove me and my gear to a little honey hole and within an hour of leaving the armory we were back and had a red in the kitchen pulling backstraps out. our commander walked in and just laughed as he looked at us with a dead fox, bottles of whisky and too many beer cans to count laying around. We all tried the meat and to tell you the truth it wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been. some of the guys were making sandwiches out of it.

I agree......like pork but lean and can be tough. My first try was kabobs, which was pretty good. Second go round was deep fried, good flavor but it was really tough. Next one I shoot is getting turned into green chili.

green chili is a great idea, I was thinking tacos would be good as well. Still nothing like Bear, thats my favorite.
