Eberlestock and an AR?

Will an Eberlestock Gun Runner 2 hold a scoped, 16in barrel AR with a 20rd mag (without being a pain in the [beeep])? I need a pack that I can haul my calling rifle or my elk rifle. I'm sick of snow shoeing in the steep timber wearing a pack and having a rifle trying to swing off my shoulder every time I duck under a limb. I thought this pack might be the solution, if it'll hold the AR as well as a bolt gun.

You need the scabbard that's on the X3 lo drag pack. That's what I have and it hold a scoped ar fine. I am not sure on the 20 round mag. I run 10 round mags... The do have different size scabbards. Give them a call, they are easy to deal with...Jason

I too have the X3 lodrag and it will fit an AR with a 10rd mag. Not sure about the 20 or 30. As for the bolt guns, My Lodrag has absolutely no problems loading my Savage M10 topped with a Burris Mtac 30MM scope and Harris bipod in the rifle scabbard. or for that matter, any bolt gin that I have thrown in it. Love my Lodrag!!!!

Not sure, as I don't have a Gunrunner. If you can't find a definitive answer here or elsewhere on the 'net, just email Eberlestock's customer service. I had questions about their water bladders and emailed them. I got a response the next day and ended up in an email conversation of several messages. Each reply was prompt, informative, and courteous.

Yes it will. I have the Gunrunner II and have a 22" barrel AR with a huge scope and also a Aimpoint micro dot on a 45 mount. It all fits with a 20 round mag inserted.

Thanx WhoCares, that's what I wanted to hear. Looks like Santa's gonna get here a touch early this year! Thanx guys

Whocares- I'm betting you have a Gunslinger pack and not a Gunrunner. Mine just came in, the built in scabbard isn't even close to holding a scoped AR with any size mag inserted. I called Eberlestock, they said the Gunslinger is made for both boltguns and ARs, but is quite a bit bigger, while the Gunrunner is made for bolts. If I pull the mag out, my AR will just barely go in as far as the pistol grip, and even that takes some shoving and wiggling. On the up side, the AR stock rides at about the same height above the pack as a bolt gun, and I can leave the extra barrel channel tucked inside the pack. The pack itself is AWESOME and very well thought out, nothing but impressed so far. I can't imagine a better day pack for a bolt gun. When carrying the AR, I'll just have to insert the mag once it's removed from the pack (really not a deal breaker, I was just hoping it would work slightly better). Gonna give it a little field time tomorrow, report to come.
