EGW rail for tikka?

Thinking of replacing all my scope mounts with picatinny rails and weaver style rings. This way I could easily swap the v24 onto a gun for ammo testing and then go back to the hunting scope.

I'm looking at the EGW picatinny rail for my T3. Anyone using it? A little worried it says it is aluminum. Also, does anyone know the height or can you measure it?

EGW makes a quality rail for the price. Being made out of aluminum is nothing to worry about, most rails are. Why not get picatinny rings since it's a picatinny rail? Do you have any scopes bigger than 1"? If no, why not just mount the V24 into each rifles mount, ammo test it, then swap the hunting scope back in? Selling mounts and buying new rails/rings seems like an unnecessary hassle.

I have a EGW rail on my Tikka T-3. Love it, and it gets one into all of the quality rings, that mount on Picatinny rails. Actually I have been using them on Savage, Winchester, and Tikka rifles, as I acquire the rifle, or as I upgrade optics. EGW makes some pretty nice rings, too. Some models are pricey, but they are SOLID.

I usually order direct from EGW, rather than play the "In-Stock" or not game, with retailers.

buy it.
I lost a screw for one of mine, they arent something you will get at a gunshop due to the angle on the head or thread pitch...not sure, anyway gave EWG a call free of charge a full set of new ones. Cant say enough good about this company.

Make sure you order it with Torx head instead of Allan head screws. Some of their bases come standard with Torx. Most come with Allan head standard and you have to pay a couple of dollars extra for Torx.

Mountain Tactical makes a nice rail with built in recoil lug for the recess on top of the receiver. If you don't care and just want a quality rail for the price, EGW is probably your best bet.

EGW make rails in both aluminum and steel. Excellent product from an excellent company. I have them on several rifles.
