Instead of mounting your lets say CS24 or Hellfire on a tripod would a longer thin "whip" antenna that you could clamp/clothes pin to a branch 3' off the ground have the same affect? Would be easier to carry. Anyone tried it?
 
IMO, the ecaller being a few feet off the ground accomplishes two big advantages. One, the communication from remote to ecaller is much better, more reliable. Two, the sound is much better and does not get absorbed by the ground. The way I use the CS-24 and tripod, I can have the tripod and ecaller set up in a minute or less, and even have the FoxPro decoy mounted on the ecaller.

I tried just what you're asking about on a few of the older model Foxpros that had very unreliable remote operation.

It didn't help one bit.
