Lets all tell what are most effective Foxpro Rabbit Distress Sounds are. Please don't change the direction of the topic,RABBIT ONLY PLEASE. I am not haveing luck with any of the Rabbit sounds on my FX3 and am thinking about changing out and consolidating to a different line up. I have killed 4 yotes this winter but none on electronic rabbit distress.
thanks Alec

If you are hunting in the west, as you appear to be, you might have good luck with DSG Cottontail, Jackrabbit Distress, Waning Jack, Crying Jack, Snowshoe 2 to mention a few.

The thing I have learned to be more effective is to start out with a smaller sound at lower volume, (Like DSG Cottontail), then change the sound to a louder rabbit distress before raising the volume much. Then I don't just play the same sound for 10 min....I progress through a series of the rabbit distress sounds. The coyotes seem to like that.

Bay Bee Cottontail and DSG Cottontail seem to be working good for me right now. On the spitfire, I start with the bay bee cottontail at a volume of 3 and raise it to around 4 after about 5 minutes. Then I'll switch to DSG Cottontail at a volume of 3 and bump it up to around 4 or 5 after another 5 minutes. If that fails, I jump back to last years favorite rabbit call which was the Lightening Jack.

I knocked down a yote this past Friday evening around 10:00 PM while using the Bay Bee with a volume of 3. I turned the call on and within 45 seconds, she came charging in. DRT within 5 feet of the caller.

Low volume seems to be the trick right now here in Central Georgia. I think I've scared a few away in the recent past by starting out on a volume of 4 or 5. Just my 2 cents.

Alec, I have a question for you. Why do you only want rabbit sounds to call coyotes?

FOXPRO has two rodent sounds that work great on coyotes in the areas of California that I hunt in.

Here are the rabbit sounds that have worked for me lately.

Bay Bee Cottontail
Snow Shoe Hi Pitch
Jack Rabbit Distress
Lightning Jack
DSG Cottontail
Adult Cottontail

Alec,

We have to date 29 different rabbit sounds available, and all have worked for me. I often times hear people say that they need different sounds for their area, as too many people are using the same sounds. With 29 available, I know that they are all not using all of them.
We will soon be offering some more great rabbit sounds to add to our already large library.

One of my favorites, esp for fox, is the Bay Bee Cottontail. This is a Mark II sound. I have also had a lot of luck with the Mark II Adult Cottontail, and the Scream-n-rabbit, and also the Snow Show High Pitch, even though we don't have any snow shoes around here.

I thank everyone for thier input. Derbyacresbob, I don't want only rabbit sounds, but want to learn more about what others are useing successfuly as far as rabbit sounds. I feel that discussing rabbit sounds only will yeld better and more shared information. This winter I went out about 20 mornings for about 40 stands. I called in 3. One on a Carver Rubber Rabbit, I had dead batteries on the FX3 and made due. I was happy with that. 1 yote I shot that me and Grant (honery old fart) saw from the vehical, made a long shot with no calling. 2 yotes were called in with Foxpro Coyote Pup Distress #2. On all stands except the one with dead batteries I always started with Rabbit sounds. Last year I called in one yote with Adult Cttontail, but this year I have had no luck with Rabbit sounds.
I belive that some of the sounds I have are enought like another that I have that I can take one off the FX3 to make room for another. Example would be that I have both Lightning Jack, and Jack Rabbit Distress. If I eliminate Lightning Jack I can replace it with Snow Shoe HP, and still have Jack Rabbit Distress. Also I havent herd anyone raveing about success with the 2 combos, Adult & Baby Cottontail, and the Rabbit Duet. I have both these and want to replace them with other Foxpro sounds.
I know and think that Foxpro has done a great job with their sound library, but not all sounds can posibly be equall. Some have to be better then others and more popular. It doesent reflect negativly on a sound if you want to change it out for a different one. I just dident really have any expierence initialy when I bought this unit and now feel its time to adjust. And not just on rabbit, I want to load up Vole, Praire Dog and others. I bought this FX3 just weeks before the Firestorm came out so the purchase was bad timeing. There was no way for me to know.

Baybee Cottontail and Jackrabbit Distress have worked to bring in Fox and Bobcat for me even though I can't shoot them. No Coyotes on the rabbit sounds yet.
